Default Combine Age of Empires and BF2

Style it somewhat like WOW or Star Wars. Make cities and factories. Make nukes and command Centers. Subs and Carrier Fleets. Have it an ongoing battle all the time. You could have weps factories with crafters, buy and sell enhanced modern weapons. The possibilities are endless. Obviously making nukes would have to be a very rare item. This would have more depth and geared for a long term player.

So a MMORPGFPSRTS sort of. I would much rather prefer I MMOFPS. It would be awsome, even more so if it was WWII. Having hundreds of Krauts and Allies runnin around. It would be awsome. Take some engine though...

Yeah but let's have the given assumption that it doesn't suck.

WWII-Online in due respect, but I´d like to have a game Engine that was actually developed in the 21st century.

So true, and they charge $15 a month. The animations, graphics, and sound are all horrible. You can't tell if you have killed someone or if they just went prone. You also don't know when someone is looking at you, and you can't tell the difference between a tank, a building, and a tree. There are many other flaws to it. On the plus side, the enviroments are huge. The battlefields are real size and everyone plays one one map which is the size of europe. Although everyone fights on the same battle front, they can be spread out over a massive area.

Yup, the idea behind WWII-Online is really what I´ve been wishing for ever sind BF 1942. However, the game design etc. is all just gone crap that its a real shame.

I used to hope for a while, that DICE would get down to a similar projekt, WWII on a grand scale, similar to an MMOFPS like Planetside...just better.

Ah well, looks like we´ll have to live with more MoH and CoDs for now...

In order to run a MMOFPS with good game play and graphics, everyone would need super computers, and a super server would have to be dedicated it it. An entire room of super servers. It wont be happening for years to come. I would really love to see virtual reality MMO games. That is the future in gaming.

What makes you say that ?

Recent MMORPGs have shown that their servers can handle up to 5000 players on a server, quite routinely.

EVE Online I believe even has up to 15000 players on one server, so thats not the real problem.

It only really starts becomming an issue when you have to many people in a certain area, thats when lags start occuring.

Another potential problem, and that might be what you were heading at, is that real-time combat, as in FPS is far more difficult to handle then semi-round based combat featured in most MMORPGs. But I believe, that if you manage to combine elements of both FPS and RPG games into the combat system, that it would be quite possible to create such a game...

Yea I was talking about FPS as apposed to RPGs. FPS games are much more intensive on the system.
