Default Promotion Upgrades?

I think the entire system of promotion should be more than just unlocking weapons. Players should be allowed to change their characteristics around..

ie.

You can add a level of armor to one class
Be able to carry around more ammo
Have your heal/fix packs work better.
Increase sprint distance.

These are just a few things, and I believe could have been pretty easily implemented into the game. For one, every player would be unique, and it would be more worth going farther in rank if your abilities could get better.

i've thought about that before, but it seems unfair for people who just bought the game. let's say if i've been playing this game for like 2 years and upgrade all my stats and i met this noob who has nothing. its impossible for that noob to kill you, since your invincible now with your super armor and fast sprint. it creates imbalance in the game.

Also it brings the game away from the arcade style which Dice doesn't want.

I think it adds to the arcadism, like tricking out your ride in NFS style.

Also, it should always remain one shot head kills. It can't really make you invincable.

this is like going into realism, which alot of people dont want. we have to have balance in the game, arcade and realism. we can't make it too arcade or too real.

I have to say that is not going into realism. In real life you don't get combat upgrades. If implemented properly you would hardly notice them when being attacked by someone. For example, in Guild Wars if I apply a Minor Rune of Death Magic it adds 5 freaking damage to by 85 damage spell. It's hardly anything. If DICE did that it would be cool. You could either put all your upgrades into one thing any be obviously skilled towards that attribute (to the point you would outsprint other) or you could do your own thing like carry a little armor and the rest goes into ammo. Very basic things.

Making it realistic would be to increase accuracy on weapons the more you (successfully) use them to emulate efficiency with the weapon.

duh, i meant this is "LIKE" going into realism. going arcade, going realism, what's the difference, it would only unbalance the game. i didn't mean making upgrade is REALISM.

Massively Multiplayer Online...A lot of people play BF2, but the maps aren't massive.

That's all relative, mrhahn. For a FPS I would consider the maps massive. I hate getting stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Even at 64 player I wouldn't call it massive. As an FPS, yes it's big, but compared to actual MMORPGs - with tens of thousands of players online on the same map - it's nothing.
