Bf 2142 - "DvD Disc not found"

Greetings fellow combatants, I have a problem with my BF 2142, it used to work as a charm, but recently, after updating the drivers, I've experienced problems.

When I load the DvD into the DvD-driver, i get the "autostart-screen" as usual. However, when i click "Play Battlefield 2142", the splash screen comes up, then i get an error message saying "Insert the Battlefield 2142 DvD into the DvD-driver", where it already is.

I've been browsing around similar threads, but none of the posted solutions worked for me (ie, restarting the game, rebooting the computer, reinstalling the game, deleting install directory, deleting profiles folder etc).

Two things you might try.

1. Delete from Device Manager your DVD player and have the system reinstall your DVD player.

or...

2. [Vista] Find the BF2142 .exe file in your Programs/EA/BF2142. This file has an icon
and is the one you click to start the game. It's an application file.
Right click on it.
Click the compatibilty tab and put a checkmark in the box "Disable desktop compostion."

Also, always list your Operating system and other info for better help. What drivers did you update?

Oops... well i'm runnin on windows XP... And tbh, i can't remember what drivers i updated... where quite alot of em... i'll try the DvD player thing though...
