We don't need new laws. What we need is for our legal system to mind its own fucking business. Why they think they can go into other countries and dictate policy is beyond me.

All the while, schools close, business moves out, people go without jobs, money, healthcare and housing. Fucking retarded.

Do you object to paying artists for work that is rightfully theirs? Do you think, that because, with a flick of a key, you can copy that media, that the work is free?

That's not the point of the thread.

I'm just pointing out that the ultimate reason ISO hunt is blocking access is because it helps facilitate copyright infringement.

If it was just hosting Linux ISOs I doubt this situation would have arisen.

Exactly.

I was talking about the US waving the ban stick in other countries. Never mentioned at all the validty or purpose of copyright laws. Nobody did actually. As hsimah pointed out in an educated and contributing manner, the thread is about laws and jurisdiction.

This isn't another case of you refusing to view the link is it? I mean this is the PnD after all, you know.....the place you previously have demanded the rules be closely followed. Try to stay on topic, I.E. read the material provided so you can take part in an educated adult conversation. No need to come off all hot and bothered with your rhetoric assault of open ended questions.

Actually, that's not true. The ultimate reason they are blocking users from the US only, is because the US legal system is coming down on them with litigation. ISO is not blocking other countries because other countries don't care if kids steal from uber rich whining bitch entertainers. You'd know that had you read the link.

I know ignorance is bliss grim, but shit man, I agree with TVA 100%. Does it make you feel good to just throw in you're two cents without giving a fuck about the actual topic? Seriously dude, go back to studying for your precious college, and come back when you have an on topic reply.

The only deduction i can ever manage to reach after reading these threads is that Sony Et al. CONTINUE to make zillions even after crying murder and pounding sharing networks and even people like you and me into the ground with assinine lawsuits that barely deter filing sharing - at least not in my experience.

Americans should just go back to the old underground tape trade system, which was by the way encouraged by nowadays successful artists. What are they going to do, require a permit to buy CD-Rs?

I believe that if the record companies sold more singles instead of shitty ass filler albums, they might manage to limit piracy. Typically however, they whine to their buddies in the judicial system or the administration, and these folks then proceed to assault the average joe because he felt like downloading a few tunes. These fucking sacks of shit then put on tours for their artists and ask for ridiculous amounts of money to see these bands live, some of which suck so much ass id rather watch them on a music channel.

Ill be god damned if i pay $25 for a shitty ass CD, pay for concerts, and then get cyber-railed because some cockblock company executives feel that the bottom line just doesnt cut it, and file-sharing is to blame.

Find new ways to package your shit, or just shut the fuck up. Music sharing isnt going anywhere.

I have read the link and understand the situation fully. The MPAA are fully entitled to use US law in order to enforce their copyrights even if you disagree with it on principle.

I don't really see what the problem is. Intellectual copyright theft is illegal and therefore it's somewhat inevitable that sites that facilitate this will get targeted by the relevant judicial systems.

Sums up the situation nicely really, you may not want to pay $25 for a CD but if you want to legally have access to the content then that's what you have to do. You may choose to obtain it by illegal means but to condone this and even present it as the moral thing to is just a fallacy.

If it means less wealth in the pockets or those who do not need it AT ALL, then I really dont mind. Even if i didnt buy CDs and was barred from downloading music, i would just burn someone elses copy or buy it second hand. In that case, at least they cant use honest consumer dollars to sue the same consumers later on.

Most artists get very little of their overall income from album sales. The majority comes from merchandising and concert ticket sales ($25-$50 x 8,000-20,000 people = income), album sales is more of a liability than an income source. Tickets for Led Zeppelin's reunion tour in the US are going for $150 to $250 per, no album required...
