A RTS game from Big Huge Games and Microsoft. BHG was founded by Brian Reynolds, of Civ2 and S.M.-Alpha Centauri fame. What they have tried to do, is take all of the great things from RTS games of the past, and add all they know about turn based gameplay. RoN can be played in under an hour. With other settings, 3-4 hour games can be had as well.
RoN has borders, and advanced economy model, unique units and art, and seems to be really well balanced. I'm not going to spam it up here. If you liked EE, C+C, Warcraft, or the Age series, check it out. If you have felt that RTS gaming is all "click fest", and too hurried, this might be the game for you. The micromanagement was downsized alot compared to other games. This is the site I work for. The forums are down right now but.... http://ron.empiregaming.net/ And a few other key sites. http://microsoftgamesinsider.com/Ris...ns/default.htm http://www.bighugegames.com/riseofnations/index.html http://www.microsoft.com/games/riseofnations/ <<<<official site |

honestly, I couldnt tell many of the unit pictures from EE, except that they looked a lot bigger and slightly more cartoonish. the rockets look like cool features, but Im not about to race out to buy it.

Is there a game out there, kinda like age of empires, where you build ww2 stuff like tanks and little riflemen and stuff. Not that comandos one, but one where you control whole armies.

EE is rock/paper/scissors on a grand scale. It's a decent game concept. RTS, you gather, build, kill. You can boom or rush, spam build the cheapest unit, build a balanced army, all types of strategy.
But there are prophets that cast spells, and they can't be turned off. There are a few other flaws that made it unplayable for me after awhile. The online community is almost gone. The guys who made it, are making their next game. http://www.eenc.net/ I think it's suppossed to be out before Christmas. I would wait for that or get Rise of Nations. Or at least C+C Generals or something. EE and even more so the expansion, both buggy and don't support dx9. Original EE doesn't support XP either. |

the battle in it are so awesome. I love building up my army, really quickly of course, complete with napoleoninc cannons, hussarsm and the such, and marching into enemy territory. The battle get quite huge after a while, and I dont even have DX9, even though it says i need to have it to play, haha
