Check out this excellent article on Toms Hardware for their review about which OS is best for gaming:
http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer...930/index.html The verdict: 2000 and XP are slightly better speedwise and much better stability wise. I personally would suggest that XP has additional problems (note in the article it talks about Silent Hunter II which wouldn't even run on an XP system) that 2000 does not. By the way, just as an aside for those of you who have problems running various software and are thinking about doing a complete rebuild of your operating system (ie, format the hard drive and reload everything from scratch), consider the following instead: why not make your system dual-boot? If you're using 98 and have problems, try installing 2000 and choose dual boot instead of upgrading 98. Then reinstall the games while in the new OS and see what happens. It gives you a chance to try something else without having to rebuild your entire system which is truly a pain-in-the-hiney chore we'd all rather avoid.

i dual Win2k and 98
i got MSI GeForce 4 ti 4400 and it doesnt work well on Win2k so i use 98 for gaming BTW XP takes a lot of your RAM so it's not really best for gaming i'd say. I had it for a while.
