Default TNT's Historical Lesson - #1 - from T-34/76

Welcome everyone to the TNT's History Lesson Corner, (plz sticky this one.)

Today our lesson will discuss about the famous RUSSIAN T-34/76 *you'll meet it in the game.*

Was hard to get a pic from 76 mm version, this is 85 mm.

One of the most decisive weapons of World War II, the T-34 was developed from the BT series of tanks. The first prototypes were produced in early 1940, and after some modifications the first production models rolled out of the Kirov Tank Plant in June 1940. By the time the Germans invaded Soviet Union in 1941, over 1200 had been built.
The design of the T-34 was excellent, and made effective use of sloped armour plates for the hull. This, combined with the 76.2mm gun and 500hp diesel engine, had a profound effect on the Germans when they encountered them in battle. Ironically, few features of the T-34 were original, having appeared in one from or another in earlier Soviet or foreign tanks. The basic layout placed the engine at the reat, with a Christie-type suspension, and large road wheels on pivot arms controlled by long coil springs. The tracks were held together by pins that were retained in place only by plates attached to the hull, which pushed back the heads of any projecting pins as they passed - this made for simple track maintenance. The driver sat at the front, beside the co-driver who operated a machine gun mounted in the glacis plate. The 76.2mm gun shared a mounting with a 7.62 machine gun (DP).
