Default CS Source hitboxes

Check this video out :/

http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=css_hit_b0x_bb

It shows the wire frame of where you're bullets actually make contact.. ie if you shoot infront of a player, you are more likely to hit them than if you shoot directly at them.. Bad coding!
This explains how I get shot before even seeing the killer :/

Its a very well known problem. Valve cant be arsed to fix it though, one of the reasons I stopped playing.

It most games you have to lead due to realistic bullet trajectories. You have to spray and pray in source.

42 does the same thing...

You just have to get used to it.

regular CS was great because it was pretty right on with hit boxes.

Only differece between 42 and Source is that 42 doesn't have instant headshots... Source does. A lucky, stray bullet could make the difference.

Isnt it an instant headshot if you shot someone with a larger caliber (No4, k98, sniperish things)? Or am I just mistake a 1 hit kill headshot with a "instant" headshot?

Bonus points for A Perfect Circle's Passive in that movie. Thats a real arse to have lazy coders instead of putting realistic bullets they just have moving hit boxes? Thats crappy programming if you ask me!

CS 1.5 or 1.6?

Automatic headshots are basically with the sniper weapons (ie. AWP, scout, auto-snipers). The colt/ak sometimes does 80 or 90 dmg (damn helmets!)

Battlefield infantry combat is rubbish compared to half Lifes.

Theres something about battlefields infantry that made you feel like you were playing in a giant sandbox, and you were loosly firing at a tiny thin enemy player.

Half Life (1 & 2) seemed to just "feel" right in 1st person mode. The enemy models were realisticly fleshed out and moved better on the ground.

If by Half Life 2 you mean CS:S, then it was one of the worst MP experiences I have ever had. CSS sucks balls. And this only proves it more.

I don't see how jumping from a 12-foot high bridge and shooting someone on the way down is realistic in anyway.

Play half an hour of Day of Defeat, then go play Berlin. Youll understand what i mean. The models feel so loose, the guns feel so random. Half Life feels solid.

Battlefield was a vehical orientated game with infantry thrown in.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with Urs on this one, I can't wait for DoD:s.

Here's hoping that BF2 makes infantry combat a bit more fun than it is in 42

DoD: Source is going to rule. Can't wait for the beta. But, I think that HL + Mods are, like you said, more infintry-based and fast-paced. The Battlefield Series is more "go get a flag, come back, kill some guys, go get another flag."

Street battles were not very intense without vehicles. BF2 seems to fix that.

To me, hitboxes always seem to follow the targets rather than lead them, ive tried it on a server it definately seems to be the case.

Only gay part about DoD Source is that I have to pay for it... What kind of mod is that?

I never played the original, so I have no idea. Best infantry game I've played is CoD.
