Default Kingston HyperX

Don't fall for it: I just put these into my new PC. Running smoothly, but at DDR2-800 rates, not 1066 as advertised. Now the general verdict is that you need to set the rates manually (DDR2-1066 as well as 2.2V). Didn't do the trick, they are still displayed as 800's.
Just a little warning to anyone else looking to bump his system.

I think a lot of this depends on the chipset of your mb.
At least you tried upping the voltage..many ppl do not.

That Kingston brand appears to be new...not many reviews.

Hyperx has been around for a while, I've never been disappointed in Kingston until now. Well, I'm not totally disappointed after all. Some voices say that even though they are running at the right frequency, they aren't reported as such anywhere but the BIOS. Weird

What programs are you using to read the new ram speeds in the OS? Maybe they're just reading the info off the SPD chip.

Cas, Kingston RAM has been around for ages.

I used SIW and Everest. Can you recommend a program that reads it out correctly?

CPU-Z should show it, as well as what's defined by the SPD chip.

Yup, you're right.
Since you have some knowledge, let me drop another one: Is it necessary to have a 1:1 ratio, or is 5:8 fine as well? I'm running the RAM at 1066, FSB at 1333. My Processor would get clocked down to 2.4 Ghz (C2D E8400) if I try 1:1.

An asynchronous fsb isn't an issue, as long as you're not relaxing the ram timings too much to achieve the higher memory speeds.

I'm running them at the speed they were advertised for, with the advertised timings.
Thanks
