Default Vista + Battlefield = :(

Got a new laptop, Gateway T-6816. It meets the game specs no problem. Battlefield 1942: Complete Collection.

But

-I have no crosshair on most guns
-Random error messages, then the whole game shuts down
-All the checkboxes in the menu screen are missing
-I think it doesnt like Punkbuster either cuz I keep getting communication errors when I play online then get kicked from server

Looked on google and people seem to be blaming Vista. So I installed the game on our 3 year old laptop with Xp and it works perfectly fine, except for much slower loading time But I want to play on my own laptop

Keep in mind this is my first computer game so I don't really know much lol

I know theres a sticky couldnt really find what I was looking for.

Any help is appreciated.

Vista is your problem. Don't know what to tell you, but Vista doesn't like older games.

Try the compatibility mode (in Vista) of the games .exe.

Laptop and BF is hard to troubleshoot. I doubt you'll find much success.
