Default Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo Questions / Upgrading Ram

Recently i became very interested in call of duty 4 and checked out the system requirements.

Quote:
OS: XP or Vista
Processor: 2.6ghz Pentium IV or equivalent (3.2ghz recommended for Vista)
RAM: 1024mb (1536mb recommended for Vista)
Video Card: DirectX 9-compliant Shader 3.0 card with 128 MB of DDR Video Memory (256 MB recommended) AGP 8x or PCI-Express x16
Sound Card: 16-bit DirectX 9-compliant sound card
those are the test edition specs.

now my question is this. how does my 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo translate into the 2.6ghz P4?

I run XP for gaming and have a gig of ram (which will be upgrading shortly..) but I am concerned about my MEGAHURTZZZZZ

Also, I am looking up ram for my computer.

2GB kit (1GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrades for Apple MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (15.4-inch) Laptop/Notebook, CT613254 from Crucial.com

is what I have found so far. I have 1GB installed of DDR2-667mhz PC2-5300

I am looking for a 2GB stick (so i have 1x1GB, 1x2GB = 3GB) total. Why is this so difficult? Everyone wants to sell me pairs. I DONT WANT PAIRS

Found more information/clarification on ram ceilings for the macbook pro's.

Quote:
The MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo) and MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo) notebooks have two SDRAM slots in the bottom of the computer, and they come with at least 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM installed into the bottom slot.

Although these notebooks will accept up to a 2 GB SO-DIMM in each of the two memory slots, the MacBook Pro will only support 3 GB total memory. If you want to maximize the amount of SDRAM in your computer, install a 2 GB SO-DIMM in one slot and a 1GB SO-DIMM in the other.

You can use Small-Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules (SO-DIMMS) that meet all of these criteria:

* PC2-5300
* unbuffered
* nonparity
* 200-pin
* 667 MHz
* DDR2 SDRAM

You can use RAM module sizes of 1 GB or 2GB in the top or bottom slots.
From apples knowledge base. MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo): Memory Specifications

How to install ram into your Mac Book Pro: MacBook Pro: How to install memory

I posted this information because everything else I had found pertained to older models and was thus out of date.

Here are the two gig sticks:

I think you should be fine, I don't know too much about the whole core 2 duo aspect, but I have an XPS M170 with a 2.26 Ghz processor in it with 2 GBs of RAM, and I'm sure I should be able to run that game on High or close to high in a decently high resolution.

because bioshock's minimums were
CPU - Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor
System RAM - 1GB
Video Card - Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM

and I can run that on high in I think 1920x1200. I think my 2 Gbs of RAM pick up any kind of lack my processor may have. So I would def recommend you getting that extra gig of RAM in your machine and you will have no problem whatsoeva.

Our MacBook Pros are powerful machines. I think they should be fine for CoD4. When does the demo come out?
