Not more hardware trouble
![]() My PC is currently out of action as the mobo failed and is being replaced. So I'm doing all my Internet browsing from the downstairs PC. I started to notice graphic glitches such as this screenshot: ![]() I turned down the hardware acceleration of the card (ATI AGP 8x 9800 All in Wonder) which fixed the windows graphic problems. However on booting up, there was blue squares all over the windows loading screen, looked like artifacting. Reducing hardware acceleration isn't a good cure anyway and it will stop games from working ( I had to turn it all the way to 'Disable all Direct3D' which will prevent games working). Also, I get terrible graphical anomalies in 3D rendering. Running a game or viewing the preview in the ATI catalyst shows terrible performance: ![]() This looks to me like artifacting caused by OCin or too high a GPU temp, but it can't be either of those as it just randomly started happening and I haven't been messing with it all. Bust GPU? Thanks |

Holographics confirms, it's fucked.
Artifacts like that are usually caused by unstable overclocks and overheating. If this is a stable system and this just started happening then that suggests its broken. Have you tried using another graphics card or the same card in a different PC? Also have you recently updated the drivers for the card? |

My old 9800pro died the same death. It started with the odd glitch in games and ended up with full blown funkeh boxes during boot. Luckily, it still had a month left on it's 2 year warranty and I ended up getting 2 replacements for the 1 card, but that's another story. ![]()
