I am currently using a 19inch CRT monitor that I have had since 1997. The monitor is a Gateway vx900 19in CRT. Keep in mind that this is not a flat screen monitor. After all these years this monitor is killing my eyes and I know an LCD is much easier on the eyes to some people. This has been an excellent monitor but I think it is time to move on and get something new. I want to upgrade to a nice LCD monitor that is of course well suited to games like Battlefield 2 and CS. I also would like the monitor to be able to connect to my system via DVI. Can you reccomend a LCD monitor that will work well for gaming and general computer use such as web browsing? I would like to stay around the $500 range or less if possible.
Im not 100% dead set on an LCD. I would also consider a nice flat screen CRT monitor so you could go ahead and reccomend one of those if you want. Im open to all suggestions. |

Theres no reason to buy a CRT nowadays, unless your obsessed with them.
Here are some models my gaming mag recommends: 17" and 19" http://www.gamestar.de/hardware/eink...ubrik=monitore

Unless you know why you need a CRT you should get a LCD.
CRTs are now the preserve of cheap people who are getting them secondhand/cheap and imaging professionals who need the advantage in image quality and colour reproduction that CRTs still give. As for LCDs viewsonic are making some very good ones at the moment. There top end 17 and 19 inch models are supposed to be good. Also another quick point, dont fall under resposne time hype, 16 is about the max you should have but 12 and under it makes little difference. |
