Default Sound card

Pondering upgrading my sound card.

I rarely have the sound up at all since playing poker it doesn't really matter, but sime I'm getting back into gaming, I was wondering if a sound card would be worth it.

I'm currently running the speakers off the motherboard.

And would this V-card be a good upgrade for the price, I currently am running a FX 5600

PNY Verto GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 AGP Graphics Card

The graphics card will give you a massive boost.

As for the sound card its not realy worth it. If you have the money go for it, its just htere isnt a huge difference.

I went from my onboard Cmedia 6 channel sound card to an Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS just tonight in fact. Man, what a difference in BF2. The sound--voices and effects are without a doubt much clearer, and I'm hearing so many more sound effects than before. It cost me $105.99 at Circuit City, though I think you can get em for $70 some odd off of the internet after an included mail-in rebate. I'm hoping this fixes the remaining stutter problem I had earlier. Though it was only really apparent in Operation Cleansweep so I'll have to wait until that map comes up when I play again.

i got my audigy 2 sound card for free!! won it from ea taiwan lottery game. (that's the reason why i don't really hate ea that much). it's true, the sound quality is MUCH MUCH MUCH better. go for it, its worth it. but you also need a good quality speaker or headset to get the best out of it.

I have a Audigy 2 ZS. And I hate the thing.

Its a great card for gaming.

But...

For music the M-Audio cards thrash it and the biggest thing of all is the drivers are shockingly bad. Just auful. Plus creative are keeping the EAX 3 and 4 techs to them self so the competition cant use them.

It stinks.
