Guys,
Could use some help here. I have 3 DIMM slots, two of which are filled with 1 Corsair Platinum Series, CMX512 - 3200LLPT (512MB) modules each. I have one free slot left (3 total on my mobo) and was thinking of buying a 1 GB Corsair module for it to bring my total memory to 2 gigs. Some additional markings on my memory I current have are XMS3205v1.1, 400mhz 2226 t1. I've just spent 30 minutes on New Egg.com and Corsair looking to see if this is possible and to find the similar partner number model, with no luck. My fear is I'll pay $150 for this super fast memory only to not have it work or not be compatitble some how. Can anyone help me here and tell me what exact Corsair Platinum single 1 Gig DIMM I need to upgrade? Does timing on the new module have to match the old ones? Will it even work mixing a single different size DIMM with 2 other one's? Any guidance you can provide will be appreciated. I'm doing all of this for BF2 as I hear it's a RAM hog. Thanks. I'm really confused and if I can't figure it out I just won't upgrade.

k thanks Grim. Because of this woud you advise not to upgrade? Could I do a 512MB stick then (exactly the type I have now) and speed up my computer? Would that work? (Would be a total of 1.5Gig of memory.
Or is it all for naught, and 1 gig is fine? (Haven't DL the demo yet as my computer is still in transit.) Thanks.

The mobo will always resort to the slowest SPD timings however many sticks you have. |

I dunno...
I heard that they don't have that anymore on newer mobos, and that people still think that because it was a problem "back in the days", like a rumor, myth. It's not true now But whatever, better to play it safe. Listen to Grim. :/ |

Its only the Athlon 64 that have on die memory controllers. This is partly what makes them so good at games. Pentium 4 still have the memory controller on the Northbridge. Quote:
