ok now i know that amd athlon64 runs both current and future softwares. but what's the difference between AMD Athlon64 and Athlon64 FX?

FX is the super duper wow chip, much like intels extreme edition (only better).

there are the fx51,53 and the new 55. The fx chips have an extra 512kb of l2 cache (i think). they arnt realy worth the cash their mainly for braggin rights.

man, so many different kinds of fx. is there like a list of amd 64bit chip of what they do and performance. cause its still alittle bit confusing.

There is supposed to only be one AMD-FX CPU on the market at a time. I agree with grim reaper that the FX-CPU is only for bragging, like Pentiums Extreme Edition:

Yes, once 64-bit software hits the markets all AMD64 CPUs will experiance a significant performance increase of an estimated 30% on 64-bit optimated software.
