Depends what you mean with "greatest" !
BF 1942 surley was a great game, surpassing anything comparable at its time. I never thought much of any expation pack as they all seemed to lack really enhancing features and just increased the content without adding to the depth of the game. But if you were to compare BF 1942 with BF 2 today, objectivly and unbiased, then surely BF 2 is the "better" game. Ergo: BF 1942 is the greatest BF game, but at this time, BF 2 is the best !

I doubt that. I'd rather see BF2 stuff on the BF42 engine. As the BF42 engine ran smooth as motherfuck and had a great feel bf2 lacks.

I think the problem with BF2 since its so frustrating to get organized, push the enmy back and get a spawn point (because its almost impossible to do it on your own) that when you just think that you've pushed your enemy all the way back to their main base , some annoying sneaky bastard snuck around and takes a base behing your lines. Also the artillery is simply stupid and annoying in BF2, it comes out of no where and kills half your guys. It has good tactical sense but on the recieveing side of it, its simply stupid and totally random. Sometimes there are these awsome street fight and people are trying hard to push the other guys back and people are helping each other out with medic running around and then BOOOOOOOMMMM everyones dead. If they would make it so that when your prone the artillery does alot less damage (by like 80%) to troops and make it have a larger radius (because now it can only cover around the width of the street), it would make alot more sense. It would be like a buffer, slowing down enemy advances since you would need to lie down to survive it (if you stand up you die). For now its, lie down and hope a shell won't land on you. I think a DC "Push" style map would be better. Maby not exactly in the sense that you need to take this flag before taking this other one but more like, you can't take the main airfield behind the dam before you take the dam and you can't take the dam before you take the a few outposts (Kubra Dam), or you can't take the MEC bases across the river before you take the bridge point (Mashtuur City, Strick at Karkand), Some kind of system so that annoying people with helicopter or on buggies don't get behind you lines and take a base! It would make the game more enjoyabel since one side would be advancing and the other side would slowly be getting pushed back. |

because bf2 just got out and people are hooked on that. Anyway when i bought bfv it took my view of bf1942 from a 96% to a 72% and i think some people think that all the games are not as great as bf1942. (the best so far in my book)

I've said it before and I will say it again.
BFV SUCKED GRANDMOTHERS HAIRY NIPPLES. '42 turned me into a hardcore gamer...I have been playing games since Doom came out but I never got so immersed into a game before '42. BF2 is good but it will never give me the same feeling '42 did. EDIT: who the hell voted for RTR? ![]()
