I need some help here, guys.
I can play single player without a problem. I can even start a local LAN game (haven't tried starting an internet game). When I try to connect to any server online, I go through the loadup stage, then am kicked back to the server select screen with the message "Disconnected from server". I've tried several different servers. This problem came up a few days after I installed the 1.1 Patch, but I was able to play the game without problems for those first few days. I've tried updating PB, my graphics card drivers, and reinstalling BFV altogether. I haven't tried messing with the firewall on my router, but I was able to play the game before now without modifying any settings, so I'm disinclined to believe that's the problem. My rig: Win XP pro Intel P IV 2.5GHz 1042 RAM ATI 9700 PRO Any ideas? |

It must have something to do with your router or firewall. If the game plays fine on single player, then there is a problem with the internet connection itself. But since it's worked before.. hmm. Double check and make sure your firewall is allowing BFV to access the interenet. If not, totally uninstall the game and its core registry files. Then try a reinstall and see if the game works online without the 1.1 patch. It could just be a bad install of the 1.1 patch, not likely but it could happen...

Thanks for the suggestions, Mac, I finally got it working!
I re-installed last night and was able to play online without the 1.1 patch. It was tough to find a server, though, let me tell you .Next I installed the 1.1 patch and back to the same problem - no internet play. In a fit of desperation I finally opened up the UDP ports they specify in the manual and what do you know, it works. I don't know what the heck they did in the 1.1 patch, but they somehow must have enforced certain port usage that they hadn't bothered with before. To what end I can only imagine. Anyway, I guess it's all about opening the proper UDP ports on the firewall. *sigh* |

Glad to hear it's working for you! Sometimes, when you change or modify a program, your firewall will realize that. So, the firewall will act as if the program has never been allowed to access the internet. Therefore you would have to regrant it access to the internet... Anyways, glad it worked!
