I just did a little checking an apparenlty snipers in Vietnam had "suppressor" attachments that acted as silencers. No sound beyond 75 yards.
Now that might be cool. Of course only US forces should have them. Jim

Hmm... Aren't the guns allready suppressed or something? I don't know for others, but I rarely hear any gunshots unless the person firing is within 100 meters or so. However, I often hear the bullets whistling around my head and the impacts on nearby obstacles... not a pleasant situation when you don't know where the shots are fired from. But it might just be my sounds screwed or something.

A birdcage on the barrel for the muzzle flash would be a lot more useful.
I think you can only use certain ammunition with silencers too -- likely not large caliber, high velocity rounds.
