Default my idea for a map

Here's what I think the experts at EA should make (after they fix ATI problems first of course DAMN YOU FOR NOT OPTIMIZING ATI BETTER!!!). Ahh ok on with the idea:

The theme would be "hot LZ" or something like that maybe the title too for that matter. Basically the map consists of a medium sized area of rice patty surrounded by a couple houses on one side and then forest everywhere else.

The spawn points for US would be a base far far away from the LZ so the only way you could get there would be you have to take the chopper to make the whole LZ thing work. There would be like no vehicles other than choppers at all and have a couple Huey gunships, one chinook maybe two, and a couple of the Huey's that guys can shoot off the side from. Once US guys get to the rice patty and get the LZ flag there they can start spawning from there and proceed into the jungle part where the NVA have their flags.

Basically the mission for the US guys is to secure the LZ and then proceed into the jungle to capture one or two more flags. The mission for NVA is to keep the US from landing and securing the "patty flag" and to keep their flags located in the jungle.

And thats my wish for a future map, what you guys think?

You mean similar to the "we were soldiers once" map from EoD. Yes, I myself was thinking a map like that would be cool. But I got no patience to start mapping.
I think it would be cool, if the VC had trenches and lots of bunkers to hide in, and the jungle should be pretty dense (in places).
I also think the US should have a Phantom for Napalm bombing. That would be really cool.
So I´d say 3 standard Hueys for the US, maybe 1 gunship and the F-4 Phantom, and then they have to land in this densly populated area. Yes I´d like that...

oh EoD had a map like that? I never played any mods other than DC.
I thought it was an original idea .

But you're right the US should probably have a Phantom too. Assuming every NVA is going to get the SA7 for this map the US will need even more air support to make it work. Still I hope Dice considers making this map "professionaly" for us.

I think the rice patty part would be cool. Everyone would have to go prone and crawl into the jungle like that pretty much. Supposed to be very intense like it would have been in real life.

i hate pilots who have a full chopper of troops and they bail without telling anyone so that the chopper crashes killing everyone inside
it would be nice if the pilot could only bail when there are other people in the chopper after he says "Bail Out" using the voice command, F6 F6
but back on topic, it would be nice to have a level like this one, but you would get the noobs who would take off in an empty chopper leaving the rest of the team on the ground yelling for a pickup

True, but IF you had cooperative teammates it would require good coordination and make for some really GG's.

edit: I made this map of what Im thinking it should look like.

from your err... sketch thingy, the rice patty lz is right next to the NVA base and would be completly spawn raped, no chopper would make it down alive, it would have to be set at a distance so that the US would have time to get 1 wave of choppers in, then charlie arrives and all hell breaks loose

Well, since BF: Vietnam came with the mapeditor included, get cracking. I spent some time with the editor, but gave up after a while. I just don´t have the patience for such stuff.

PS: You can´t always build maps presuming every player is a retard...

lol true, I should have put more distance between the NVA spawns and the US LZ. The LZ should be far enough away from the NVA bases so people can't just camp at their base and fire heat seakers up knowing they will find choppers anyway. I don't know how far that needs to be exactly, but a good bit.

And dick justice, I did install the map editor and tried to make this map, I messed around with it for a good 20 minutes or so just making the US base, spawning choppers and landing pads etc. So I saved it and went to play on it to check, and realized the whole map was water? So I'm gonna stop trying now.

I'm just mentioning this idea cause I think it'd be cool to play on, but Im definatly not the person to make it.
