Default ATI Fix (9600 def, maybe 9800s too)

Hey guys,

I have a 9600 XT, and apart from most everyone I have talked to, I have absolutely no graphical problems whatsoever. What's different about me? Well, I do not have the latest drivers, in fact, I think I have the drivers from 2 releases ago.

Driver date: 12/12/2003

Driver Version: 6.14.10.6414

If there is anyway to downgrade your driver, or jsut reinstall it all together, this can't hurt (be sure to keep a copy of the most recent drivers jsut in case). Good Luck!

EDIT* http://www.ati.com/support/products/...usdrivers.html

It was the Catalyst 4.2. Go pick 'em up! from that link.

I to have a 9600 XT, but use the latest drivers. It seems to work allright, but then again I don“t use AA or AF...

i can't believe there is any reason for older drivers to work better. Unless ATI really got confused thinking they were making them better but ruined them, that I doubt though. From a logical standpoint it makes no sense

Yep, I have tried em all and settled on 4.2 as well. Guess it wasnt just my imagination that they seemed to be the best out of the rest.

1280 res 4x AA no AF med detail, 50-60fps. I also used 2 very usefull programs in my quest.

Yup, I"m going back to 4.2 as well. just flickers on some parts, plus SimCity 4 went haywire.... darn drivers... WinXP users can just rollback the driver.

That was one of the solutions for Call of Duty problems too. Such a pain though.
