Default ATTENTION ATI OWNERS, ULTIMATE WORKAROUND

I got this from another forum and it works. Still can only use 1024 and get about 50fps but its close. I can use my aa/af with settings at medium.

I've posted about AA and AF a few times already and enabling AA will yeild a strange glitch/flicker.

AA fix: disable Shadows.

Enabling AF will produce pixelation on some textures.

AF fix: Download RadLinker and use Forced AF through RadLinker settings.

The only ingame setting that makes a huge impact in peformance is, the Graphics Quality setting. As you can see from these screenshots the only difference between Medium and High/Highest is some bumped map textures and that's the eye candy causes the drop in performance. High and Highest are visually the same.

Notice the difference in frame rate.
Medium
High
Highest

Notice that only the texture of the Hut is affected by Medium and High/Highest. The vehicle still has the same look.

Highest

And more screenshots to show the visual/peformance difference between Medium and High/Highest
Medium
High
Highest

The Player models, weapon models, water, trees, vehicles and the vechicles' cockpits all retain the same look between Medium and High/Highest for the Graphics Quallity setting. Yea, I know we shouldn't have to do all these "work-arounds", but until we get a patch... there's isn't much else we can do.

I like the game alot and it's really fun, atleast when I can find a good lag-free server, which is almost a game itself. [/b]

Here are some screenshots I took after doing all this. I was getting 50fps with just me wandering around. Sure looks a lot better but would rather be at my 1280 res with max everything and getting 100fps. But its getting there. Cmon patch. Now the screenshots:

I must say, it looks alot cleaner and sharper. But I dont know if I can sacrifice all that eye candy for some AA/AF. Running 1280x960 max detail, without any AA/AF. I get playable FPS. Haven't checked what, but Its playable, as I havent noticed lag. Ill have to wait for next patch, too lazy to mess with all that. Good work though 420!

I really believe this will go with the wind. Unless they do something almighty. I think, imho, its long and much like FH, in the fact you run around for ages in certian maps. Its not too my liking, and very, very laggy. I hope they fix that.

Hmm, what a rip-off for ATI. So unfair they make the game perform so much worse on ATI cards.

But I´ve never played with AA or AF, so I expect I won´t do so in Vietnam either. I mean, if the resulution is high enough, you don´t really need AA, and AF..I don´t know if its nessassery...

Nope, with high res, you can still notice jagged edges and it drives me nuts. Reason why I bought a high end card. Those screens are only at 1024 and the aa/af smooths every edge.

I read another workaround :

Quote:
ATI Control Panel under 3D ---> Direct3D ---> Compatibility
---> Alternate Pixel Center from "disable" to "enable"
Is said to fix the AA issue.

That one didnt work either, but the fix above did. I wont be happy till it looks like this, the way its supposed to be and advertised as:

Look at the tires. I wish, even though I have the system for it.

When i did this, none of my i's or l's would display...really made it a pain to try and communicate in some made up language...plus it didnt help at all either...

I HAVE THAT TOO! I haven't heard anyone else mention it but it happens to me and its really annoying. I can of course usually read the stuff thats typed but its annoying to have to put the missing letters in myself.

when someone says "lol" all I see is " o ". Wierdest problem ever...

Right, enabling that will allow you to use AF but at the same time you have missing letters. So dont use AF. I use 4xAA and the game is running awesome, just not all the way.
