Default simma down now

thought i'd start a thread for those of us poor bastid's that don't have BFV
yet and have gotten frustrated trying.

supposedly getting mine from "pre-order" but still isn't here.
so i decided to go looking around, and it STILL amazes me how stupid
the game shops are. they have piles of the Sims and other crap that i could care less about. i've gone by EB, Gamestop, CompUSA, BB, etc.

they all said they sold out in under an hour, but they have 60 copies of
"Secret Weapons", lol.

i'll just wait and get it when i get it.
i'm tired of fighting traffic and people you'd think would know more about a series that has made a fortune, won awards, and set sales records.

damn EA, you got me again.

Works well in my case cause we have a Walmart in our town of 10,000 ppl. I got mine yesterday in the morning. There was about 15 copies left and they are probably still there.

Yesterday I called Gamestop, asked them when the shipment was coming in, called them at the designated time to verify, told my boss I'd be out for about 30, went and picked it up, looked at it and drooled for the rest of the day, then got to play it last night.

I finally got mine today. I had to drive two fricking hours to get it. I hate living in the boonies. Both close wal-marts aren't even getting it any time soon.

Yetix, I think that's the pre-order promotion that they're selling. My music CD came in a pre-order display box.

Well I dont think we are getting it until Friday here. They complain about piracy, and then they release it at different times around the globe.

So all the fans download it to play it. What do they expect?

I havent downloaded it myself, im not really that worked up about it, just seems like more of the same. But ill go and see if its in the shop on friday.

Piracy and global distribution are two entirely different issues, and should not be confused or associated.

Global distribution/translation takes time, and it's one of the consumer's few responsibilities to be patient until the product gets to them.

No, i dont think they are entirely different issues at all. There are people here that have downloaded BF:V that have condemed piracy in the past.

This has come about because the game was released in Brazil and copies made available on the net. People in other parts of the world wanted to play it and so downloaded it rather than having to wait.

They could ship all the copies out around the world and then release it on the same day everywhere. Sure the usual people will always just download a copy. But if it turns out to be a shite game ( maybe it is i havent played it ) this could turn people off paying out cash for it. They could have just stuck with BF.

Where as with a worldwide release they would have paid for it to try it.

Make sense?

Yes, I see where you're coming from, but do you honestly think that the people generating pirated copies wouldn't be doing it if it were released on the same day?

No Thats why i said, "Sure the usual people will always just download a copy"

I just think that people who wouldnt usually have downloaded a game have done so this time because it was available 4 or 5 days before the planned release date.

But with no demo being released then maybe its justified anyway, seeing as BF is mainly enjoyed as an online game. So really you need a cd key.

You need a legit CD key to play. I didn't have the game before, but wish I had of. Those who got the game can at least see whats its about. NO demo, wtf. I wish I had of had at least one map to play online first. I wouldn't have gotten the game, therefore I wasted 40 bucks. Maybe the game will grow on me, maybe not. If not, I think its like a mod gone awry. I don't like the feel, gameplay or much else in the game. It looks pretty and thats about it.

BF is much better imo, and I wish I had of had the non-legit copy first.

thing that annoys me is a world wide istant release if perfectly possible, it dosnt need translating for a UK release, unless you classify american english a totally different language.

i dont get my copy untill sataday at the earlyist, i preorded it from amazon wit one day over night, saved some money but itll prolly turn up on monday(if i comes later than that i swear ill go postal).

it sucks publishers ignoring the world out side of america and japan (if we are talking about console games).

i have seen the pirate copy freely availble online, im not going to download it though, its 1.8gb for gaods sake, only l337 people in america who allready have the game could download something like that (point being cheap internet in USA and people are awake when you are).

i dont particularly hate piracy, yes it does suck, its sorta okay ish for a. crap gamer and b. games that arnt released worldwide at the same time.
