Default BF Vietnam Demo

I am surprised that there has been no news of this. So far, DICe has released a demo for all it's major releases, and the BF demo came out 2-3 weeks before the Sept. release. Which, by comparison, should make it this weekend. Dick_Justice or any other news gurus hear of news of this yet?

That really does suck tho. I mean, I could see myself playing the demo like crazy. Im sure alot of people would be convinced to buy because of the demo. It's already gone gold, epect a leaked copy soon (UT2K4 with same release date, has a leaked copy out...)

They already said why...they were too busy trying to meet the release date deadline. I guess I believe them.

they should release the demo 2 weeks before the game comes out. the demo for battlefield 1942 which was the wake island map was the main reason why i bought the game. demo is important for advertising and stuff, i guess they ignore how important it is.

They are not worried about a Demo , it already went gold. They are pretty sure its gonna sell.

There was no time as a deadline was more important to meet rather than getting a Demo out.

Okay Tiwan, they'll waste their time for an "important" demo when they can be fixing bugs / gameplay issues

There's an interview online with Armando Marini, head of design on BFv.

http://tpn.vg.no/view.jsp?Inr=91

Scroll down to "New community" and read what he has to say.
"Unfortunately, we will not have a demo."

That was on 3rd March BTW, so I assume it still stands.

I read as 2-25-04. Bummer if true...

NavalLord.. post your source about the demo coming out at game release.
NavalLord: "its comming out the same day as the game, this has been know for a long time."

As to that interview: Here's the part about a BFVN demo.

Question:
"Do you expect that gamers who are playing Battlefield 1942 will start to play Battlefield Vietnam instead? BTW, the game is looking really nice! How about that highly wanted demo..?"

Reply:
"I hope they do. With the new graphics engine and mod tools, I do think that eventually, the community will begin to shift over.
Unfortunately, we will not have a demo."
Unquote.
Hilsen Armando Marini

Maybe he meant Pre-Release demo?
Note: This interview, tho in English, originated from a non English site.
I can't make out who from DICE was interviewed.

From what I remember reading about a BF: Vietnam demp I think there isn´t going to be one.

After all releasing 1 level would take away 7% of the content (only 11/14 maps).

But then again, it was the demo that made BF 1942 so popular so it should seem smart to release a demo. Not releasing it could either mean, they think it would stop people buying Vietnam, or they presume its allready popular enough so they don´t need a demo...

well considering that everything ive read until that says that they will release a demo the day it comes out then im pressuming that they are talking about not releasing a demo before the game comes out, because if they dont release a demo at all then that would be the dumbest thing that they have done besides not releasing the SDK

It might not be so dumb. They know the game is going to sell, everyone knows that. By not releasing a demo it will force people to go out and buy it. Those who are wary will wait for reviews. So by not releasing a demo they get more money faster and then get some more by word of mouth reviews.

I'd much rather have a demo to try out. I know i wouldn't have gotten into bf42 if it wasn't for the demo. And i want to try bfv before buying it. I really hope there is a demo.

Without wanting to sound too cynical... I know a couple of people who work at EA and have beta'd BF:V.

They're of the opinion that if EA release a demo half of the hard-core BF players won't buy it.

I hope they're wrong but initial reports on the game are pretty grim.

Can you expand on that please? Because it isn't that different from BF42? Because it isn't any good in it's own right? Some other reason?
