Will there be any lightning/shadow effects? Im asking cuz i know bfvietnam will have nightmaps. The uglything bout bf1942 at night (custommaps) is that there are no lightning effects. Lightning effects like in "america's army" should be sufficient (like when u see a bullet travel at night.. its light lightens up its surroundings).
Imagin--> ur in vietcong base at night (u dont see much)... base is gettin bombed by a bomber... as the bombs impact u see faces of enemy hostiles around u but they fade as soon as the lightning effect of the impact fades. Should be cool uh?? |

There are actually light maps in BF, along with shadows.
every fly a plane, and notice that the cockpit changes in brightness depending on which way your facing? Its just BF wasnt made for night maps, whereas BFV will. So i'm sure you'll get some midnight lighting goodness!

BF 1942 really has no lighting, sure it has some but they are very very "primitive."
I agree though I sure hope they have some light effects in BF:V like they do in Americas Army. At very least give the m60 tracers and such. But the thought of having a bomb go off somewhere near you and for half a second seeing everything within that 30ft radius or so illuminate would be awesome. Or what about flares you launch into the sky? Say you launch one upwards, get your gun out and as the flare goes off and illuminates the battlefield you see this figure appear out of nowhere 10 feet from you that you had no clue was there otherwise. I doubt it would be that dark though. That could make for some awesome nightbattles. Like the last battle in that movie "Platoon" oh yea....that would be sweet. |

I'll probably stick to the day time missions anyway, sure night maps can look great, i just like good visibility better. Some night maps in different games i've seen are very nice though, they get bad when they're made pitch black so you really can't see shit. At that point it's not fun anymore, only frustrating.
Let's see if they can get the night maps done the nice way ![]() |
