Default I'm Going Crazy!

Hi guys! My first post here(Obvious)

I been playing Battlefield since March 2003 and i love this game.
I'm not the best but i always get top 10

Anyways recently, actually yesterday, I noticed my video cards fan was not moving so i took some pictures of it and Got alot of peoples opinions on a forum and i found out that the fan had gone mental and broke. So playing games without my card being able to cool itself is very stupid. So i brought it in to the place i bought it from and they took it and said they would see what they can do either replace it or send it into the company. He gave me a OLD crappy replacement Vid card so i can still have access to my computer. This card can't play Bf1942 sadly

The past few months i haven't been Able to play alot because i have rent to pay a snobby girlfriend to support and that means i have to have a job.
So i'm working at the hospital as an intern while i go to Medical school.
Up until now my daily routine was set in stone.

Monday-Friday classes from 9-4.
Monday-Friday Work from 5-11 or 12

Saturday work from 6am-2pm
Saturday spend time with girlfriend 2pm - Whenever.

Sunday STUDY and Some battlefield here and there.

I would play battlefield for 30 min to an hour when i get some from work or right before i go to bed. On sunday it was my time to relax.

I'm just feeling so crappy not being able to play. I'm sick right now so i can't Work, This would be a perfect time to play some battlefield but sadly The one time i do become too sick to work i can't play...........

Anyone else go through a similar experience?

I have a PNY GeForce FX5200 and my video card fan is going out too. It makes a groaning noise when I first power up the PC, but goes away after 30 seconds or so. Its under warranty, but I can't find my receipt so I'm screwed.

Oh, well, its a cheap card anyway. When it finally goes bad, I'll have an excuse to get a new one.

I had the exact same problem as Monk with my Geforce FX5600. Stupid grinding noise at beggining but than ironed out. Few months later saw it had stopped spinning and a fin had broken off. I shook it out and it worked again for less than a day. Eventually it packed in so now ive just taken off the side of my case and got a desk fan blowing in at full pelt. Not the most efficient cooler but it will suffice till i can buy a replacement GPU fan and they are proving difficult to find.

Maybe this is a problem with the FX's fan? lol Seems alittle too common.

Mine did the grinding noise for awhile but i didn';t pay attention, Then it all of a sudden stopped spinning.

you could try frozenCPU.com or pctoys.com both are under vga fans/colloing in the chipset cooling section. If al else fails try newegg or allstarshop for further hardware. Hope it helps find a fan for everyone

First that was a BIG mistake! the fans on all the video cards are standard and can be purchased at most computer stores or even your local radio shack and you could have done it yourself in as little as 5 minutes adn as little as $10

Im thinking of buying one of these beasts. Looks very good for over-clocking my GPU

http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/product/zm80a-hp.htm

Might buy the fan with it too as im not too bothered about noise

Good news you dont need a receipt just call them.

My PNY ti4200 went out and I sent it back to PNY without a receipt and they replaced it with an FX5600 ultra. And I have to say this card rocks I pumped up everything to high, AA and AF on shadows and light maps, everything is cranked and it runs great.

Well, I called PNY and got an RMA for my card now. I got CompUseless to look up the purchase (6 months ago) and print me a replacement receipt. So, I'll send it off. They told me they would look over the card and do extensive testing and if anything else is wrong with it they will just replace it. It's new enough that they will replace it with the same card though.

Tex, did you have any problems with their phone menu? God, that was the worst call-center phone menu I've ever heard. Took me 20 mins of menu hopping to get to a live person. So far I'm happy with them (except for the phone system), but I'll reserve judgement until I have my card back.

wait, your warranty is void if you put stuff in your case yourself? so in order to add ram or a new hard drive or a new card you have to take it to the shop? or do you mean modding the exisiting stuff in there like adding fans to cards and such?

Yeah monk, thier phone system sucks, and the guy helping me could barely speak english. Luckily they E-mailed me the RMA cause I had it all wrong from what he gave me on the phone, and I kept saying "what was that I didnt understand you". I shipped it regular ground, so from the day I shipped it to the day I recieved my new card was 3 weeks. Thats pretty good turn around time.

I was lucky to get someone who sounded like a native (with a heavy New Jersey accent)

They said 1 1/2 to 2 week turnaround, which comes out as 3 to 4 weeks in my BS translator.

ok that clears it up, i got a little confused and thought that you couldnt add anything to your computer, that would suck big time, but as long as they dont charge then its ok, and their suppose to be professionals so if any goes wrong you can blame them
