a few different issues than the normal 2142

Ok. I just installed BF 2142 recently and have been having CTD issues. Started with updating my video drivers, no resolve. Updated directx, no resolve. Re-installed game, no resolve. Sometimes it crashes on start up, sometimes it lets me play for hours then crashes. Problem 1

Problem 2.
Tried to play online and some servers came up to join, tried to join and said could not connect to server then all the servers went away and did not refresh. Found out from a friend there was a patch to install, 1.40. Downloaded patch the first time and tried to install it and told me there was a more current version installed which i dont see how the game was purchased at a store and my taskbar shows version 1.09 when it loads.

some weird problems going on =( any suggestions?

Nvidia 8600 GT, pentium 4 3.0ghz processor, 2 gb ram

I'd advise a complete startover. I'd uninstall the game, delete any existing
leftover files like game configuration, settings (the uninstall process should ask you if you want to). Choose Yes.

Then I'd recommend a video driver cleaner from here:

Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com

Corrupt or messed up video files can often cause problems. It's best to start fresh again.

Download the driver cleaner, the latest Nvidia video driver for your card. Wouldn't hurt to defragment your harddrive too.

Install DriverCleaner and run that, install the video driver, then reinstall the game..and patch it with the latest patch for BF2142.

As for game disconnects, it could be anything. Mostly likely your connection, firewall, router or the game needs proper patch. 1.40 > 1.09 (1.4 vs. 1). See?

Before you tackle Problem 2....
get a fresh start. Set your game settings lower if you still have trouble.
