Noob needs help/retention of rank?

Just got the game and am trying to learn the ropes through singleplayer...however every time i finish a round and return to the menu the rank and rewards i had recieved from the previous match are gone and my rank is back at 0. Can I assume that the unlocks and the retention of rank/rewards only come through victory in multiplayer? If so thats fine, I just want to figure out if i have a problem or not before i start playing to much and not earning stuff. Thanks in advance.

That is correct, but it doesn't matter if you win or lose. You'll get points anyway.

Wait, what? You only keep points in a round if you win that round? I've never heard that before. I think it just may be that the stats servers are slow. They should update in an hour or two.

You retain points and anything gained in either a victory or loss.
As stated above, you need to wait for the main EA master server to reflect
your gains. You have to quit and wait awhile and fire up the game again to see
accurate update.

As is well known by many in both BF2 and BF2142, the master server can mess up occasionally. Not too big a deal.

You may join a server where you retain all your unlocks, but you're a private.
You may join a server where you're a private and without your unlocks.

Quitting server and joining another fixes that.

What still needs to be fixed in BF2142 is this: Conquest mode.

You join a server and set all your option unlocks (and throw in squad leader unlock options in case you become squad leader during that inital join). Fine.

On next round...same server...you choose to become a Squad Leader.
BF2142 will NOT retain ANY of your previous round unlock choices.
You have to take a good 20 seconds to redo them all (time included to "invite" other players to your squad).

Hell, that's 20 seconds lost outta the gate... that is valuable time lost for me. I like to get going...lol.
My Squad Leader unlocks are retained for the next round and thereafter on that one server...but damn.


Recap: Conquest mode.
On servers I newly join, all Squad Leaders are already set in place. I join one and set my unlocks. Fine.

Map ends.

New map or same map...new match, same server. I choose to be Squad Leader.
All my unlocks are now lost.
I have to redo every damn one of them.
I end up charging up to first flag (to get moving fast) with lost time taken "inviting squad" and all I have is the damn default BB gun.
