After numerous tweeking and adjusting, I have finally got the game to play properly. EA has grossly underestimated minimum requirements. I have a near top-of-the-liner and I must still set the internal game settings very low. I am now experiencing being shot to pieces even though I hit the enemy 4 to 5 times with no affect and then I get hit once and I'm dead. This can be a front-on-front attack or me even having the advantage from either the side or rear and I still get clobbered. Am I doing something wrong? Help...

This is a common situation with all players. You are not alone.
I'm waiting to see what "adjustment" DICE makes to the Assault Gun in the upcoming patch. I'm also waiting to see what (if any) improvements are made to onboard Titan fighting gameplay besides just having each Titan unable to move once shields are down. |

If it's a "near top-of-the-liner" system and you have to run with all settings on low then either something is very wrong or your definition of top of the line is very wrong. What are your specs, what resolution are you running at, etc?

Tips can be turned off or on during the game.
You can edit your previous post rather than posting again a few minutes later...UDI5x5. We here at BFnation don't have a specific BF2142 guide, but you only have to Google "BF2142 Guide" to get many hits. |

There was an article on BFN's front page about Tweak Guide's (funnily enough) tweak guide for 2142, I suggest you take a look and see if it gives you any ideas on what settings you might change for best performance/eye candy.

"Ouch," I thought the MSI Radeon X800, 256m would not become obsolete so fast but it's really no surprise. Trying to talk "The Boss" into a dual core, hyper-thread ain't gonna fly as of right now. I might be able to squeeze out a new graphic card though. Any suggestions? I do have a new Samsung SyncMaster 931B, 19" with a resolution of 1280x1024. Why I'm forced into low settings must be the graphic card. I have done everything there is to do (all of EA's suggestions plus) and still get the "blue screen of death," after being dropped from a server. I have checked for viruses, defragged, removed unneeded programs, removed cookies, tweeked the sound software, and have searched for new drivers but none available. Gotta be the graphic card...yes? Funny thing though is that with the game set on 600x800, I can't tell a difference from the 1280x1024. Don't suggest new glasses cause I've done that too, last month! Thanks for the help...
=Deathmaker]OK, I'm assuming it's a Pentium 4 @ 3GHz. and a plain ol' Radeon X800, so I'm sorry to tell you it's by no means near top of the line. That said, it should still be good enough to run 2142 @ 1280x1024 (assuming an LCD) with most settings on medium, bar the dynamic stuff which you should set to low, with 0/2AA and 8xAF. There was an article on BFN's front page about Tweak Guide's (funnily enough) tweak guide for 2142, I suggest you take a look and see if it gives you any ideas on what settings you might change for best performance/eye candy.
|

Thanks for the reply. After installing the recent patches (the one patch to fix the last patch) things are working. I have had to run the game primarily in a medium mode in regards to video and audio. I think you're right. If I had another meg, I'm pretty sure I would be able to turn things up. Thanks again.
quote=K_Shizzle]Lol, I don't think 1 meg of ram can run it
|

Oh gooossss...you're right. I meant a gig. I'm showing my age. I can remember when a meg was a big deal. Yes, I've already checked and one must increase in twos, so's I could pull two of my 256's and replace with two 512's. Believe it or not, Dell seems to have the best price. That would give me a gig and half. Do you think this would be best with (if I can pull it off) an updated graphic card to 512 and the gig & 1/2 or 2 gigs of RAM? Thanks for the help and advise...
=K_Shizzle]No no no, I mean I think you are talking about a gig . But two gigs would increase the qualtiy of play quite a bit.
|
