The netcode/gamecode for BF2142 is kinda lacking in this way.
Onboard enemy Titan...you can lob a nade as part of a team effort... sacrifice yourself....see the nade lobbed....get shot dead...and in your afterlife death view..see your nade explode harmlessly next to enemy. If you time the lob really early...you'll die and enemy will too. At least in BF2...your nade would take out the enemy with your sacrifical lob. Sometimes your nade will take out enemy in BF2142...but you have to lob it well before your death status runs out. Also..on this same issue...I've been shot at...health status near 0 and ran a good 10 feet to cover behind some structure with my little health left over. I'm safe with my little health left (I believe)...then... I die as having been killed at the hands of my assailants gun and BF2142's rediculous gamecode/netcode. A good ten feet at safety. I've had this happen in BF2...but in BF2142...this error is magnified to an obvious fault in BF2142. It's understood that it's "take if or leave it" with my observations/critisicms. I have a few others. Gameplay design looks as if DICE canada (interns only) went thru the motions designing and considering all facets of BF2142 gameplay. "Something for everyone" ...SELL IT! There's nothing left of the hands on influence by the makers of the original BF DICE team...only subordinates. I know...I know.... Gee Caslon...welcome to the real world.
