2142 Won't start after install

Hey fellas,

Ok I installed BF2142 retail from ea downloader. Installed it and added patch 1.01. WHen I click start game icon the nothing happens.

Any idea whats going on?

I'm getting the same problem just finished reinstalling as i upgraded me comp from Core2 duo 2.13gtz to core2 quad 2.4ghtz. so its got a fresh install of Xp+Sp2.
i have a XFX 9600gtx 740htz, the latest drives from the manufacture, as nvidias drivers have stuffed up in the past and there basically the same, i start the game either through the desktop icon the bf2142 folder or EA link, and the screen goes black, then drops to windows. NO error message or anything else to suggest it has a problem.
and i just recently redownloaded the ea link, so ther is no need to tell me to do it again, as i dled it yesterday, installed today, and it won't start.

i have BF2/Crysis/The Witcher/Assassins Creed/ Oblivion/COD4 and they all work on full specs, without any lag what so ever. so it aint a driver problem or a xp problem as i dled the hotfix.
any suggestions would be helpful. i tried the link and there suggestions it didn't help.
