Default BF2142 patch thread

I am not bashing EA/DICE necessarily...just my first impressions having purchased the full game.
Also, this isn't a wish list thread about gameplay. Make your own about that.
Please don't comment that you can't even play the game...this thread is for those who can.

Let's get right to it and start with the ingame browser.
Refreshing a server list causes the "refreshing list" icon to freeze untill you have to press "Cancel." It should just finish refreshing the list and go away. It doesn't.

In game issues:
Numerous disconnects on bigger servers. I find servers with 32 max time out less.
There's still the texture clipping bug when onboard enemy Titan.
You die and can see right thru the hull.
The lag while fighting onboard either Titan is almost as bad (or as bad) as Special Forces carrier map.

You join a server and find you are a recruit without ability to use recently awarded unlock gun. You have to wait untill the map reloads and gets info from the master server...or quit server and join another ranked server.

You can add any other bugs you've seen and post them here.

I know DICE mentioned the lag on the Titan and the disconnects, but that was for the demo, not the retail.
I expect some real info from DICE that they are going to resolve these issues.
Class action lawsuit comes to mind.

So far, bugs Ive noticed that were really aparant are the following:

Walkers (mechs) tend to get stuck in the "walk" animation, even when standing still. This makes shooting a target next to impossible as the walker is bobbing up and down horribly when trying to aim, and making that annoying noise. The only way I have been able to fix it is to totally get out of the walker, then get back in.

Killing enemy infantry seems very difficult in this game. I have unloaded nearly an entire magazine into guys before and they do not die. It shouldnt take 2 magazines to kill someone. At the same time however, I seem to die very fast, sometimes with what seems like 2 or 3 bullets. Maybe its just my armor vs their gun and vice versa, but it seems broken to me

I am SO fucking glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem.

I've found that servers that implement the rule that commanders cannot move titans don't have that lag (those that can actually enforce the rule).

Quickly jump out and then back into your Mech...that cures it. We shouldn't have to do this.
..needs fixing.

Commanders move Titans during gameplay just so a few ppl onboard can target
areas below using station gun seat positions. This ruins the gameplay for the rest.
What ends up happening is...both Titans are almost next to each other when both shields are down. Transport Helo's immediately get shot down by each others Titan upon departing. I end up getting an APC under enemy Titan to pod up to it.

This trend of Commanders moving Titans next to each other is dumb...and it's happening way too frequently. DICE should make a point at which the Titans can proceed no further toward center of map!

I've got a round where of all 5 silos only one was shooting. Longest Titan round ever...

This is probably due to both DICE gamecoding and your vid card.
I bet that is one of the 25 issues to be resolved in the upcoming 1.05 patch.
Hang tuff.

Meanwhile...update your DirectX to the very latest.

Jan Zizka:

BF2142 current version is 1.01.

Possible solutions to your problem may be to try other servers, or select "Same version/Same Mod only" filter in your server browser, as the server you are attempting to join may be out of date.

Note to DICE: Some ppl still fall thru the Titan upon spawning at a friendly Helo on the enemy Titan's deck. That Helo may or may not have had the passenger seat hanging over the edge. I believe it was in a position where the spawner should not have dropped down to the ground.

Also...DICE...let's fix that texture clipping where as when dead...you can see thru the hull.

I posted a comment to the front page news about the 1.10 patch.

They finally fixed the in game browser History list "Refresh" button that didn't work and would just hang at "Refreshing Server List" forever untill you clicked "Cancel."

The onboard Titan play still lags as bad as ever. What I noticed is that...despite Titan Commanders no longer being able to move Titans once shields are down...the onboard Titan lag worsens, if, before shields are down even...Commanders move the ships at all!

Basically, the best chance of having the least onboard Titan lag (and this is unfortuneate) is to not move the Titan ships at all!

Of course...seldom does any Commander realize this. Some servers I've played on DO realize this.
It's still laggy onboard the Titans...but not as much. I agree it's a bummer having each Titan stay put. DICE's fault.

Two other points.
3 patches for this game in about a month. I won't bother being a part of DICE's Beta test team anynmore. It's a phishing scheme of sorts.
EA has the gaul to say a third patch in less than a month is an early xmas present?!
