How many of you are actually not going to buy the game because of this? And were you going to purchase it before you heard this bs?

I preordered the game at EB Games. EB (auto-dailer) called me late this evening saying the have my copy. Going to go in tomorrow and demand my refund and tell them why!

EA can go *uck themselves...IMHO.

Here is some more information from IGA
Gamasutra - Q&A: IGA's Townsend On BF2142 In-Game Ads

This is my Problem with the deal..

EA should paste that warning on the outside of the packing. You buy this game... go home and tare open the package.. as you taring open the Case this paper falls out and on that paper it states that there are going to be ads.. and it's they are going gather your IP for you location so they can show you ads in your geographic location and we are going gather what ad you watch and at what angle. Then at the bottom of this paper it states that if you dont' agree don't install it on any platform that has internet connection. So you don't agree to the terms.. So you package everything back up and go to best buy to return it. Best Buy tells you that you are shit out of luck because you now have an open software and they can't take back software that has been opened. So EA Wins.. unless you want to get gather a bunch of people together and get a class action lawsuit against EA for not mentioning that if you dont' agree to the terms you can't play the game on a platform connected to the internet before you purchased and opened the game

If ya dont agree to the terms upon installing you can return it for a full refund. If not at the retailer you got it from then from ea. Ya just have to find out exactly where to send it to.

i agree that this is bullshit, but its not going to keep most people from buying the game. the fact is... this type of advertising has been around, and you will start to see it in more and more games. soon it will become normal to see.

so basically if you dont like the fact that they are watching you everymove and going to exploit that to shove a bunch of ads in your face than you better plan to give up playing new online games forever. its not like they are gonna blast a bunch of pop-ups in your face anyway. its going to be little window that shows up at game startup, just like BF2 uses for personl advertisments.

That's fine.. if they want to place ads in the game so be it. Give us the option to not to have them sent to us or lower the price on the game.

Well the fact is that ads are always gonna be around and probably more so as our lives become more integrated with technology. Id rather have ads that are more customized to my life than ads for just anyone. But thats just me...

That's true.

I'm going see how everything turns out. I was pissed when I first read and viewed that .jpg. However I should of waited and see how it played out first before I went off.

I was thumbing through some old articles on IGN the other day and came upon their first impression of BF2142. After reading it for a bit I could relate to alot of the stuff the author was saying, especially this:

Quote:
It seems like most other issues were less serious and not as continuous. While there's the off chance that it's actually my incompetence, I've had some problems killing other infantry when the entirety of my reticule is on their chest. Dumping an entire clip into someone point blank should, in fact, kill them.

I'm not trying to dog 2142, because I know there are many of you who have bought it and are enjoying it, but this article sums up alot of the reasons I am hesitant to purchase it.

Jon, I was looking into Neverwinter Nights 2 as well. It looks pretty good, do you know if they have a demo out yet?

I'm guessing it's due to DICE adding a super spiffy mini notebook to alternate fire screen.
BF2142 takes a BF2 gamecode and adds on these things.
It's no wonder to me that the entire combat experience is taking a hit.

I got BF2 for free otherwise i would never have tried it let alone bought it.

If i play 2142, its cause i got it for free too.

I wont give EA my money for a mod, id much rather fork over money to a worthy company like Blizzard that doesnt constantly repackage their old games with new features everytime they feel they need money.

Its really hard to find the hidden gems these days, and EA is always the last place ill look.

Play BF2 up to 100,000 aquired points (ppl like me). Mod or not, you'll appreciate the change.

I've sampled a couple of BF2 mods. Servers can't stay filled.
