Default Anybody Play COOP?

I'm a dedicated CooP Player for BF2 and I was wondering if anybody here plays COOp regularly? This is the mod I've been playing

BF2 isn't a game you can play real coop with man...this game is meant to be played online with other people. Multiplayer all the time...theres not like single player mission and the such ya know. Half Life would be the kind of game co op is meant for

Sorry insinuwait, but your wrong here. Once the 1.3 patch was released by EA, the BF2 franchise became "online mulit-player coop" also.
The BOMSF mod just took it further. But you are right, there is a big difference between single player coop against the bots and Online Multi-player COOP versus the bots.

If you doubt this, then just download the mod and give it a whirl.

If you online multiplayer for awhile, you'll increase your skills.
After you do...Coop will seem less than demanding.
Whatever difficulty setting BF2 coop has, there simply isn't enough original AI.
A mod can't change that.

How do oyu make the bots smarter? All I ever see them do is steal vehicles, helicopters and planes from you, then go and crash them. Does this mod make them more intelligent or something? How does it imporve the singleplayer gameplay?

Not quite true. At least for Modded COOP. It is simply different. The skills you use for Conquest are... shall we say... sneakier, than those used for fighting smart bots. Bots come at you head on, wave after wave. Smart bots will also circle around behind you and Cap the flags you just left, using all the vehicles and means at their disposal. What a mod does change is all the "tempurature" settings for the AI, PER MAP. Plus Modded COOP if done right will carefully adjust the Nav-Mesh (the path that the bots are allowed to traverse) to allow for sneakier game play by the bots. Dice did a great job with the Core coding for the AI, the put in alot of hooks for adjusting AI behaviours, but what they did not do is give an easy manual to follow. Plus in their haste to release COOP they could not afford to spend the time or money working on COOP maps to make game play more challenging. IT IS VERY TIME CONSUMING! So they stuck with 16 player sized maps to make their job easier. The layout and style for small maps, is much different than the layout and style for larger maps, Bad COOP map makers don't understand this concept. So until you actually play a well designed, laid out and thoughtful COOP map, you really have no idea how hard and challenging fighting smarter bots can be

Bots get smarter by adjusting the dozens of code settings for their reaction decisions. These are true AI's, they actually do learn during the battle, and react accordingly. A good modder can manipulate those decision tree's to be map specific so that the enemy bots will act differently than your friendly bots. But in single player mod, you cannot adjust the ratio of bots on each side, this will make the battle lopsided, unless the map is specifically designed for singleplayer only. Its two different styles. The online Multi-player COOP has much more exiciting game play, which forces the humans to play as a team with some kind of stratagy. Singleplayer encourages "lone wolfing" Which is not quite as fun, IMO.

Here is a screen shot of bots flying in tight formation headed for a flag being capped by humans. They will also do this when a human is flying.

Here is a picture of a mobile spawn point being flown by a bot, They will go to the flag the bot or human commander orders, or to the flag that is being attacked. This gives the humans a quick way to get to the battle.
