Default simple question
I just want to find out if theres a way to stop the auto-connect to a server on account login when loading game. When i login to my BF account, it tries to automatically connect to a server... is there a way to stop this? Thanks.

Use the normal shortcut to start up BF2. Not the "Play BF2 online now!" one.

Another thing to decrease the time between battlefield loading up an getting to the servers screen is deleting items inside the movies folder.

CProgram Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\movies

delete all files with the exception of menu and menu_logged.

So, again dont delete menu and menu_logged but everything else can go.

If you do delete them, the game still runs properly, just in the initial login it looks like rubbish.

One more thing:

The less favorites you have in your list, the faster BF2 will connect to the account server, since it pings every single one. So just delete the ones you dont need, and that will make logging in much faster.

Also...if you rename movies for faster load up, be sure to rename them back when new patch comes out.

With me...when I didn't rename the intro movie files back to their default..the patch would bitch at my pc that something has changed and told me to revert BF2 back to it's original form. Upon doing that...and re-attempting patch...the patch acted like I ripped BF2 off the net and wouldn't let me patch. I had to reinstall BF2.

Some don't have this happen...others do.
