Greetings! I've been looking at all these websites showing player statistics (bf2s.com being my favorite) and thought of another idea.
In brief, a service that captures player stats on a daily basis, and generates some cool graphs showing trends in scores, kills, deaths, cp captures, etc. I personally think is much cooler than simply viewing current stats. I want to know the rate of my progress, which of my friends is progressing faster than me, etc. So I'm working on bf2trends.com and thought you guys here in the bfnation.net forums would make good testers :) I'm not going to post anywhere else for a while, and am hoping you can give me some feedback, tips, and suggestions. Everything is ready, from the engine that grabs stats daily, to charts that are dynamically generated. Now all I need is to start capturing trends for those who are interested. And yes, I did it all on my own :) For more: http://www.bf2trends.com Thanks for taking the time to read this post. -- Hoshi. |

I was wondering when something like this would be created, looks very good already. Let me know when you're ready for a public release (dropping an email to mrhahn @ BFNation.net is probably the easiest way) and I'll be sure to front page it.
Out of interest, do you have adequate hosting at the moment? I imagine that a BF2 site that's main focus is images could quickly run through its usage allowance, which is where I might be able to help you out. Again, drop me an email if you're interested. |

Great idea, thanks for doing this! One suggestion: the derivative of score is more interesting that score itself. Ie: don't show me a graph of my points, show me a graph of my points/hour so I can see how fast I'm improving.
You may also find the stats analysis I did on player performance interesting as a way to compare individual trends from the global average. |

KuranesGrey, I agree. I have already started work on graphs showing the rate of increase in player score. Also working on ones showing amount of time played, which when combined with score, show performance. Thanks for the ideas!

Splintercell : initially the server tracked accounts that have atleast 24 hours of *total* gameplay (the amount of time spent playing the game). Since the trend server fetches stats everyday, (hopefully for years to come) it would be a waste for it to continue capturing stats for inactive accounts.
This avoids tracking accounts which have a mere 2 mins of play time and which may never be used again. The notion being that if you have played on that an account for 24 total hours, chances are you will continue using your account. Anyway, I reduced the limit from 24 hours (which seems like a lot for some active players) to one hour. In short, you have to have played on that account for atleast an hour for it to be tracked by the trend server. Any thoughts on this limit? |

Hm. Idve left it for 24... It takes,..What, 7 hours for the average person to hit Lance Corp? Iunno. I DEFINATELY understand what your saying about wanting to avoid the 'chaff' accounts, I wouldnt be ticked if you left it at a day...
