Default Engineers: The Gimping

Has anyone noticed this?

"I NEED REPAIRS!"

<crickets chirping>

"Guys?"

Yeah... There are NO engies! We are minus engies!!!!!! Why? I set about on a quest to discover why no one plays Engineer.

So, turns out I found out after a few minutes:
1) The weapon... Is... God-awful, then sometimes ridiculously powerful. "Holy crap, I just got that guy in the head from a 40 yards! Yay! Hahaha this dude is like 2 feet away! SUCK IT! ....Okay... what just happened? How does a man absorb 7 rounds of buck shot?"

2) It's impossible to get teammate points! "Yes, I got like 3 repair points! <BLAM!> NOOOO! YOU IDIOT! Don't stand on my mines when an enemy car comes speeding at them!"

3) Mines... Okay, I get 5... thats it? "Hmm this base has 4 strategic entry points, theres a supply crate here sooo.. <minutes later> Ahhh, good... Wait, where did my original 5 mines go!? NOOOO! I can only lay 5 mines at a time!?!?!?!? What the he-<tank round to the head>"

4) Where'd my exp packs from BF1942 go?! "No Exppacks!? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!?!"

5) All the other classes have "instant replenish" pack like things, which makes it much easier to get team points... "Yes! I get a wrench! ...Crap..."

Anyone else realize how gimped the BF2 engies are?

I use to play engy all the time. The US shotgun is sweet. Also since there arn't any engies, you get all the repairs, so more points for you. Also expacks went to Spec ops in the form of C4.

Playing as an engie MEC in Karkaand when US has all flags and is trying to get across river and bridge, engie can rack up mine kills of vehicles making many attempts to cross.

Engies are much appreciated by me, especially when they jump onboard tank and repair while you engage a tank on way to cap a flag.
Especially at the beginning of a map when your tank is sure to encounter the enemy tank.

On Karkaand with a bunch of noobs as teammates, I set some mines to prevent US getting an early foothold at our back base.

Engies are cool and under appreciated.

I quite like playing as engine. Expecially with the MP7, it may be weak but I love its ROF.

It works best if you jointly play as commander, on a map like sharqi when your USMC your assets regularly get destroyed, you can repair them, go in the AA and get kills with that and be a commander all very effectively.

me and my buddy, we both go engy and we both get tank, and we both stick together (literaly, we sit and move about 3 feet from each other) that way we repair each other as we engage.

Yeah I wasnt saying they arent a great class to have around but where are the instant repair things you can throw? Why do we get very few repair points compaired to the rate medics get heal points?

Instant repair things? You crazy gold digger. I do agree with you that engineers need a faster rate of repair. Support and Medics have a good rate or rearming and healing, but it takes for ever to repair a vehicle. They took it was BF42, back in the good ol' days the engys had a good repair rate and that class worked very well. Then some high up gold digger complained and the rate was toned way down and the wrench ran out in two seconds, thus making the class useless.

it did used to be faster repair, it was nerfed because of engies repairing in blackhawks, which in turn slowed down repairs for everything else, then the choppers were nerfed, but engies weren't unnerfed

thats a lotta nerfing

cool, just noticed i have l33t co rank , probably the best thing to play engy as now, either that or while in armour
