Default BF2 Smacktard Equation

From the beginning of BF2 I have observed that in relation to helo flying the degree of "Smacktardity" is inversely related to the distance from the ground that the player flies from the ground. Has anyone else noticed this?

I don't see how its related, to this 'degree of Smacktardity', you're talking about, or even what this smacktardity is tbh

This kind of attitude ruins the game IMO. Noob and smacktard just irritates people who are new, and degrades the community.

We should be helping the newbies not slating them and calling them smacktards or noobs.

Flying a heli is difficult and takes practice, give them a break OK?

Default Smacktard

This is supposed to be a TEAM game...try to remember that...

Suggest better tactics to these people if you think their flying sucks.

See now, if you'd said: 'Directly related to' I mightve been more inclined to agree... 'Cause once you get too much height, your easily noticed by Jets, and while you have a chance to take out the AA emplacements, Ive not yet seen a chopper bake a Jet.

I have a few times

pre patch though, but then i haven't been in them much lately

The trick was go high, obviously spot them before they spotted you, if they approach from behind bank and turn into them so they have less time to fire, fly past and have to turn again.

watch the direction they're turning in and keep facing in their direction,
let off your flares if they went to missile, and because of your altitude they're more likely to approach you on a level flight path rather than from above.

got a handfull doing this

of course while you're doing all this people are still shooting at you from the ground :/

So Smacktardity is what people call it when you ram into people with vechicles?

Yes that is annoying.

Kamikaze with C4 is just lame IMO, same with base/spawn raping.

It is at least a real life valid tactic though, and the only way you could get rid of armour if you were specops and it was camping from range.

Attacking me with a tank while i'm on foot is lamer

I hate to burst your bubble, but that is the main reasons tanks were produced in the first place, anti-infantry. During the Blitzkrieg, they were used primarily as anti-infantry so that the Germans could move through the opposing armies soldiers with great ease. Most of tank vs. tank warfare came months later. Also, grab a Zook kit and reign down some fire, as an infantry you can hit the tank twice without even getting touched if your good enough.

Deinos regarding your post, I somewhat agree with you, but there are exceptions. I would say the majority of bad helo pilots fly low to the ground, but I have ridden with a few that wreaked havoc inches off the dirt, pulling loops and barrel rolls to avoid tanks, then flipping backwards to nail the turret with 5 direct rocket hits. Given these are exceptions, but there are good pilots out there that choose both strategies and succeed.

BTW guys, being a smacktard is more than just doing annoying things like base camping, or suiciding. A smacktard not only goes out of his way to make everyone on the other team hate his present, but he explicitly tries to ruin the fun for his teammates as well. A smacktard will take a tank and then proceed to drive it into the water, just so no one else can have it. They will blow up their own aircraft and assets, just for the "fun" of it. They have no real purpose in playing aside from making everyone else game experience miserable.

Though talk of smacktards has dwindled a bit since BF2, there was planty of them in BF42. They usually prided themselves on snipe-camping the enemy airfield the enitre round, while their teammates lost all of the flags on the map and lost. They would constantly mine their own airfields, because they wouldn't get to fly the B-17. And even if they actaully got in the B-17, they would usually bomb their own vehicles/bases, or crash right after they took off, making the real pilots have to wait even longer to try and suppress teh mounting enemy forces. Spawn times in BF42 were much longer then they are now. Basically a smacktard is an selfish idiot who doesn't know how to play and has no interest in learning. They merely want to piss everyone off and laugh at their own stupid antics. Overall, they are a complete waste of bandwidth.

I was joking

by zook kit i'm guessing its the AT kit?

At vs Tank usually plays out like;
1st shot they know what direction you're in
2nd shot they know exactly where you are
pop out for the third shot and you're dead

The tanks take 3 hits to get to the stage where they're about to blow, it can be done in 2 by hitting the tracks or rear, but thats not always possible, 3 hits is a more likely figure, especially over range.

Add into that equation that if you miss a shot, or the tank is being repaired or has a crate nearby and quite possibly you could be out of ammo before its destroyed.

besides, why suicide to respawn as AT, when it's much easier with Jihad

having said that I rarely die with my vehicle, its more common for me to suicide while on foot, as often you get spotted after placing c4 on armour and either blow it and suicide, or die anyway when they fire :/

The AT rockets should be 2 hit kill, 1 in the back, like it was in BF42. This 3 hit stuff is insane. You could say that now you can aim the rockets, but there are a million other things trying to kill you besides the tank. Then again if it was 2 hit kill then tanks would blow up the instant someone jumped in them. There is no happy median for this.

I completely agree NavalLord. I still remember taking tanks out at 1000 yards with one rocket shot to the rear, great fun
Even though there would not be a happy medium for this, I think it would help balance the infantry vs. vehicle problems that many people complain about. EA said they wanted to promote infantry combat and here's an easy way. They got it right the first time, so it makes you wonder why things changed in BF2 in the first place.

or even leave it at 3 hits, but make the rockets auto-guided once you got a lock for a few seconds, after all while you're trying to guide a rocket over range to a tank you're a sitting duck as you can't move or look anywhere else until your rocket arrives at its target

There are smacktards everywhere in everygame. Sadly all we can do is deal with it.

Lets talk reality here for a second, on the battleifled for real...

if you see a guy with a gun at close range and your in a tank you can do one of three things; waste a shell, shot him with the MG or run them over.

Running them over is the top option; so why complain?
why is that the top option? no ammo wasted on some fool stood in the way.

Look at it another way; why the hell are you stood infront of a tank?

War is just that war, kill or be killed, no matter how dirty the trick, its war. Just kill'um; if they kill you its not becuase they are smacktards, its because you didn't kill them first. You have a gun use it, thats my thinking anyway.

Sorry if that annoys some people but at the end of the day, killing is the name of the game and if you get killed stop running into bullets, tanks or suicide bombers.

Personally I suck at the game, I couldn't hit a tank if it ran over me. If you catch me in game then your in for a treat you'll score high, big style, I'm cannon fodder.
