They screwed the chart up. First sergant is equivalant to Master sergant in terms of points and unlocks, excpet in reality its a higher rank and thats represented by the medals needed for it.

I'd hit 20k (I think that was the required score) and was promoted to Master Sergeant, all I needed for 1st Sergeant was my ordnance badge. I'd assumed I'd get promoted to 1st Sergeant as soon as I managed to get the last badge but didn't. I found out too late that you need all the badges first.

No First Sergeant rank for me. :/

Yes u do need the badges prior to meeting the 20k requirment but the Explosive Ordinance badge is not one of them.... You only need ALL the combat badges....

Bugger, I wonder why I didn't get 1st Sergeant then? I know I had all the basic kit badges before hand, heck, I'd even gotten Veteran in a couple. :/

First Sgt. is (in the Air Force), an administrative designation having to do with being the main interface between a unit's enlisted ranks and officer corps. There's only one per unit. If you're a first sgt somewhere, and you're transferred where there's already a first sgt, you lose the diamond in your insignia. It makes no sense to have this rank in a ladder of progress. First Sgt in the AF is a desk job. I have the feeling it's the same in the other branches. "Good morning, First Sergeant?" Not likely. He's in the rear with the gear drinking the good coffee.

Do you need special forces badges too? I'm about to hit Master Sergeant/First Sergeant (2000 pts away).

Do the ranks in BF2 represent the Air Force? No. No they do not. They represent the Marines, where First Sergant is a rank.
