why?

I've been reading all sorts of conspiracy theorys on all sorts of forums about it.

If ea would get their act together then there wouldn't need to be guessing games in the first place.

If it was a beta, as a lot of people who, btw, are just guessing like everyone else, are saying, then the version number would be different, and you wouldn't be able to play on ranked servers.

as it stands you can play on ranked serv ers with it, and several multiplay, and ea servers are running it.

Even if it is a beta, then its simple enough to work around, copy your existing bf2 folder first, then patch it, that way you can play both, or remove the patched one if required.

Think of it as a preview to the official one rumoured to be released in 4 hours or so, depending on who you listen to

Yeah I heard the rumor so this isnt TOO far fetched but still, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Imagine if it, say, corrupts a registry file... Blam, gotta completely reinstall. I am in school right now so I'd rather just wait till later today.
