Default SCAR-L

Got killed today by a SCAR-L
And found out I had 2 unlocks so I got me one of them
Did I get a unlock because I ranked up to veteran Spec Ops??

So glad when they fix the bunny hoping, the server I played on was a joke everyone was jumping

The SCAR-L is from SF. So if you recently purchased SF then you got it. Keeping in mind that the need the first BF2 unlock to get the SF unlock.

What? I didn't. I did however get the bassic commander badge, a staff officer ribbon, and a gold star. No new weapons though. Some important info: Those of you who have not chosen an unlock yet but have one avalible, you will see an unlock screen when you sign in. This is just EA testing the two new weapon unlocks. You do not actually have them, the screen is just a place holder and you should only see it once or twice.

Note: upcoming unlock messages
Posted:Feb 4, 2006 12:57 AM Reply Alert

We have a small heads up announcement regarding the next couple of weeks in BF2. Things are rolling along for the patch and the booster pack, and as expected you'll likely see them later this month. The patch will come first, and be well in place in time for the first Booster. That said, we want to inform you of a small oddity you may see in-game while we get the various aspects coordinated.

Short explanation: At some point in the next couple of weeks, you will see an empty in-game window pop-up, just like you received an award. This is just GameSpy detecting now that when the patch comes out you will get another weapon unlock. You should only ever see it once or twice, depending on how high your rank and how many unlocks you’ll have coming. Once the patch is out, your weapon unlock will be available in the BFHQ tab and you can make your choice.

Long Explanation: The next patch is going to give many players another weapon unlock at their current rank. In order to get the best testing results we are having GameSpy configure up the weapon unlocks now on their end. This allows us to test them in a true environment, which is rather effective. The side effect of this is that when this is first in place you are likely to see an empty placeholder message. It will look just like you received an award and will appear once for each unlock you’ve earned. This message would be telling you that you have received another weapon unlock, but we haven't patched the weapons in yet. So you will see this placeholder message which is harmless. When the patch is in place though, the stats system will think you already got your notification in- game. So you will want to hit the BFHQ tab and unlock your free weapon.

Thank you everyone for your attention, and we hope you all enjoy the upcoming new content! Game on.

Thanks for that KShizzle, I've added it to the front-page.

The official source is on the EA forums, if anyone's interested.

MP7 is for engineer, it has a longer range than the shotgun at least.

Amraam, I would go for the MP7 or the G36E. I more commonly get killed by these two then the Jackhammer. The power on the Jackhammer is nice, but the range is ridiculously low. G36E is preferable over the L85 also.

Anyone know if these new unlocks can be accessed using vanilla BF2, or do you have to have SF?

You have to either buy SF or log in on a friends PC that has SF installed.

I added the two unlocks I didn't have and then realized that if the patch comes out and adds more weapons, perhaps I should have waited to unlock till then??? If so, then crapola.....

I've just played my best round ever

20 players
I came top for my team 111 points (my 1st 3 figure score)
Ranked up to sergeant, got a bronze medal,
a Meritorious unit ribbon and my basic transport badge.
And I now have two more unlocks
Going to go for Medic (G36E) and I want the FN2000 but which class is it for???
I guess I have to upgade that classes weapon before I can get it?

Yup, as much as I love the L85, the G36E owns.

Same for the F2000. G3 is mint, but F2000 is even better. Lots of power and accuracy but with a 'noob tube'

I have picked up the F2000 only once, and got five straight bullet kills in a matter of seconds. That thing is so much more accurate then most assault guns out there. I agree about the G36E as well, it owns over the pray-and-spray L85.

Fish, how did you get your transport badge, the transport one is the only badge that has eluded me so far.

I was just riding round capping flags
I was squad leader and someone else kept spawning on me so he ended up in my transport most of the time, so I guess thats how :/
