Why is everyone so cheap. Who cares if they make money. How are they supposed to get there paychecks and feed there families if there not selling a game like it was when it released. I for one am going to buy these, its just more maps that I will enjoy. Seriously, 7 bucks. Dont be a tight wad.

I think I did my job by supporting them by just buying the original game itself. I do agree to some extent. The online servers are free and you dont have to pay a monthly fee. If there was a monthy fee I would quit in a heartbeat. I dont need any more bills. I dont know where your from but 7 bucks is the price of gas per gallon around here. |

Well its actually $10. Although what you're saying is legitimate, if you are brand new to the series. However if you are an old timer from the demo of BF42 than you know what Battlefield really is. Part of what made Battlefield the legend it is, is because of all the free updates we got which included maps, weapons, armies, vehicles. They did release two expacks, but they didn't do too well so they stuck with free stuff in patches. Now we come to the age of BF2 and we all think, wow this game sucks, but luckily we have patches to make it better! Then EA releases SF, so the old timers say remember Road to Rome and SWOWWII? Expacks don't work for Battlefield. Then EA announces these booster packs. They are an expansion pack with a lot less content. The old timers say, good god EA did you hear us the first time? Then we find out that the stuff in the booster packs was originally in BF2 but it was taken out just so EA could sell them seperatly and make more money. That doesn't make them look any better to the old timers. This is were the new player joins the melee. They do not know of the glory days of BF42, they hear about these addons and run to their mothers asking for more money to buy them. They buy SF - $30. They buy Euro Force - $10. They buy that other booster thing - $10. They have spent $50 on content that was suppose to come with the game or content that the Battlefield community expected in patchs. In all they have spent $100 on BF2and they are obliviousy to the thinking of the older battlefield players. We all know whats next, this is
EA we are talking about. Once they see that their booster packs are working they will release more. The players will gobble this up just as they did with the others. Then EA announces their new attlefield game. All work on BF2 stops. EA has moved on to their new game. Thaat game is then released, and everybody buys it. EA knows of the money they made from the booster packs and they know they can do it again. This time patches are few and far between, and all they do is fix the occasional bug that would of never been in the game had EA given the testers time. From now on all new content will have to be bought. EA is driving the game into the ground with the very concept they think will save it.

I didnt have much respect for them since they announced all the things they were going to put in BF2 and then it got shipped and- SURPRISE! We, the consumers, the proletariats, have just received the proverbial shaft. No big surprise I guess but geez. Companies need moral standards.

Maybe I'm just too much of a capitalist here, but I think ideas should be worth something. I am actually happy that EA is developing additional content to keep BF2 going, and I will continue to buy them as long as they fulfill the standard of quality that they have delivered with BF2. The free content that was released for BF1942 was so infrequent and so minimal that I don't think it is fair to state that EA gave us this (booster pack-like) content free before.
The only real problem with the booster packs is that they destandardize the map rotations. |

Commentary:
BF1942 had a huge mod following with Desert Combat type mods. They were free. DICE appealed to the BF42 buying public with expansion paks that were so-so and cost money. They had the code and staff...and could do that. BF1942 expansion paks by DICE didn't exactly go over big with BF42 vets. The free mods gained in popularity. With BF2...DICE/EA seems to have learned a lesson from the failure of BF1942 expansion paks and success of free mods like BF1942 Desert Combat and are now doing small less expensive "bonus paks." |

Just to add to this. Did any of you notice all the crap that was orignally suposed to be in BF2 was put in the hellbox game Modern Combat? It seems like they spent more time on that than BF2. Also they have alreay released booster packs for that, understandable though because expansions aren't really possible on the systems at the time being. They have laser designation, transport helis with rockets and other crap. Just doesn't seem right :/

I dont want this upcoming "booster pack". I would rather buy the later one, but I will probably buy this 1 too but from what everyone is saying I dont think there will be many servers for it.

Ok, dont know if its for sure or not, but didnt they say that the p90 was going to be in the 1.2 patch? According to the euro force page its going to have the p90 in that as well. So is it going to fill in the gap for the special ops antitank unlock or is it going to be bumped as a unlock if you buy the euro booster? Im kinda gonna be pissed if that is so cause that acctually got me hyped for the patch but if its not gonna be usable unless i pay 10$ for it then yea, that sux.
