I wouldn't want it for the graphics. I want it for the gameplay changing features such as commander mode and squads.

you guys say the mods are out there but there really haven't been any mods released have there?

It looks like codename eagle but is that it? no sites actually seem to say when they expect the mods to come out... just a lot of screen shots and talk....

the other problem with mods vs official is there are often times a great mod is released (forgotten hope) but nobody playing it.... official releases have tons of people all the time....

Plus, for everyone worked up about price (yes, $30 was way too much for special forces...), consider that versus the amount of time played... I have $80 or so invested in BFS and SF, and have over 200 hours played. Doing the math, that is like 40 cents and hour and easily with additional play will drop well below that. No other hobby I have gives me that kind of return for so little money....

-Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.

The radius now isn't that much.
As it is now, a nade launched from a distance can land 1/2 foot next to enemy and not kill him.

Then DICE should also reduce the detonation radius from hand thrown grenades, it's rediculousy large compared to gun launched nade.

What damage will launched nade do patched? Be like a big firecracker?
Patch apparently will make it take longer between firing rounds.
I sympathize with ppl getting killed by close up launched nade and the nade launcher still survives...patch should kill the launcher too. Otherwise, I think DICE is just giving in to whiners.

Apparently they are adding some new ranks also, not sure if they are changing the points to get each rank though (probably not).

It will take forever to become a General. Probably 1 million points.

Also check out this awsome website and vote in the poll about your thoughts on the Booster Packs: http://www.bfnation.net

I have spoken with a beta tester for the 1.2 patch and he has given me some good news.
- Sniper Rifles are accurate now. Put away those pistols, you can hit simething with that rifle.
- Support guns are more accurate. No more firing 200 bullets to kill one person.
- AA sites actually hit their targets.
- On a bad note, you don't get points for shooting down a UAV. However the testers reported this as a bug so it might get fixed.

Won't these seperate mods just divide the community? I mean, when playing normal BF2 the booster players and payers will get a few extra weapons.

But they won't be able to use the skins.. armies.. new vehicles etc etc. So its really just a mini mod.

I was originally under the impression it was going to be fully integrated in BF2, possibly client side so if people wanted they could change from US to EU in a game and have all the appropriate bells and whistles.
This has certainly got me thinking about whether I'll buy it or not. It may only be £5.99 or whatever but whats the point just for a few weapons? Why not just pay a couple quid to go to the nearest cyber cafe with the mod installed. Play it, get all the unlocks, have a laugh with a mate beside you doing it. Might cost you abit more than £5.99 but LAN's are always better than net play over mics... much more fun.

Or have I got it wrong?
I don't know what the hell you're talking about so I'll make something up. These booster packs just add extra levels. When playing on these levels you get new vehicles, weapons and countries. Now, you only have access to play on these levels if you have the booster pack. I'm not too sure how the servers will run this but my guess is that they will be rotated in on normal servers. Everyone will still be able to play on the servers but when it comes to a booster pack level then only the people with the booster pack will be able to play, the others will be kicked out.

I know that now Naval.......

And I doubt any official server will run the EU mod and normal BF2 then just dump BF2 players whenever the map changes. More the EU mod will have it's own servers.
