Default Special Forces Review?

I was holding off on buying the Special Forces expansion until I saw some substantive reviews, but such reviews have either been extremely sparse or so vague that they were not convincing or clearly conclusive. On a scale of 0 to 10 (0 being "Road to Rome", and 10 being very good) where does the expansion lay, and what is/are the reason(s) for your score?

Its shit.

Its devs were Dice Canada. The same people behind BF:V. The stuff Sweden turns out is good, Canada however is bad.

BLAME CANADA!

They are forcing SF upon people who don't want it, SF weapons in BF2 is my main reason for not buying SF. Its just so bloody annoying.

Its not whats BF is about, BF to me is about a mix of vehicles and infantry fighting it out on big maps. Sf is all about the inf, there arent even ANY plane maps in it.

They haven't released a demo, they didn't release a demo for 'nam or RtR either, SWOWW2 they did, that was still shit though.

Its a BF expansion pack, has there ever been any good ones?

Probably worth getting when you see it in a bargain bin for £5. However at full price it isnt.

At the moment, I have similar sentiments as grim, but I would like to see some reviews from people who actually bought the game as well.

And for the record, I thought RtR wasn't too bad. Sure it had its downfalls, bad tanks, strange weapons, etc. but the maps were at least exciting (Cassino especially). Most of the maps in BF2 are decent, but I don't see myself going out and paying $50 for a few more decent maps. A demo would have been nice, but that didn't happened.

I have it. I like it. The addition of night vision (and maps to use it in) is great. Also, the tear gas and masks add an additional element to the support role. I paid $25 for it and the new maps alone are worth that.

*Edit*
I'll give it a 7 for the maps and new functionality.

To me it doesn't sound like its worth getting. I don't have it, and i'm not planning on buying it either... unless a fat man comes down my chinney with a copy for christmas.

I just think the mod community does a beter job at expanding the game. I mean dam... look at FH and DC. Both free and they added so much more to the game than EA did... or could have ever IMO.

You will see mods come out with all the stuff that was in the expansion... for free. Just give them time!

Ok here is my choice: SF for $30 or HL2 for $30. Damn that is a hard one indeed.

If that's even a choice for you you should give up gaming.

HL2, amazing single player then so much more from mods. I am genuinely surprised you don't have it, there again you having been at gay camp have copious amount of anal sex. With men. That may explain it.

If you note the head shake then you will under stand the sarcasim used to portray the fact that the two games are of equal vaule except that hl2 is far superior to SF.

So why are you bitching? Go play HL2 and leave us EA-whore dumbasses alone.

The thread is for reviews from those of us who actually have it and can relay an informed opinion, not bitching about how HL2 is so much better for the money. Sheeesh!

I've read similar reviews for SF's. SF looks to be similar to BF1942 expansion paks (Secret Weapons, Road to Rome) in overall coolness.

I bet one SF map is really cool tho..yes?

I thought BF1942's Secret Weapons expansion pak map of Hellendoorn was a lot a fun. Cool BF1942 expansion pak map.

I like Operation Husky on RtR. Is Hellendoorn the city map with the factory? If so that one was sweet.

Hellendoorn map was part of the Secret Weapons expansion pak. Winter scenery...jet pak at the church. Pretty damn cool map. I only played SW demo which was Hellendoorn.

I would dig a demo of SF's best map. Fat chance.

I love SF its great, although killing people on the BF2 servers with the new weapons is mint lol.

I mean its only $25, isnt going to destroy your bank. Just buy and see if you like it, if not sell it, simple as.
