I'm a regular fan of online FPS games and usually don't do too bad but for some reason in BF2 I can't hit worth a dime when on "foot". I've replaced the mouse & mat and pick servers with low ping to avoid lag. Guess I'm maybe not cut out for regular arms and need to focus on tanks, choppers....etc.
Anyone have any hints? I've been playing special ops character lately and even going prone does not seem to improve my accuracy Are there armor upgrades folks are using or locational damage? I seem sometimes to hit away on the opposing team but one shot takes me down... Been lately falling back to ferrying team mates via blackhawk back/forth during most games.... Don't laugh my K/D ratio is 0.58 ![]() If you think I just suck at shooting - hit away - I can take it ![]() -Meerkat154 |

When looking down the gun sight (depending on weapon) I usually right click for close up and then typically try to center cross hair/pin head on the chest area of the other player.... Is there maybe projectile falloff in BF2? Didn't think that was modeled...maybe I should aim over the head of the of the target? -Meerkat154 |

As in BF 1942, BF 2 forces you to lead your target.
Due to the high number of players the netcode in BF 2 isn´t comparable to that of CS for example. Even with a low ping you still have to lead your target to hit it properly. Practice a bit against bot, try to get a feel for the weapons and then go online and try always to shoot just slightly ahead of your target (if the targets in motion that is). Because were I shoot it were I hiit dosn´t apply to BF 2...

One thing i can suggest is, if you are playing close quarters most the time, always keep moving while shooting. At such short ranges aiming isnt so much a big deal as much as making it harder for the other person to get his crosshairs on you, moving target its harder to hit than sitting target. That is one of the noob mistakes i see alot, someone standing still trying to shoot someone. Even in relatively close/medium distances go prone to aim and shoot someone, never stand still and try to aim/shoot, you are such a easy target for the bullets.
It may not be easy at first but once you get the hang of it you may find yourself surviving alot more cq battles. Strafing is your friend (using A/D, Left/Right).

The "Noob tube"... I like that.
Dick brought up a good point about leading your target, and I just wanted to add one thing. Even though you may have a low ping on the server, the guy your shooting at may have a very high ping, which can make leading a target almost impossible. I played on one server where myself and 2 other guys were pinging at 100, and everyone else was a little over 200. was able to compensate most of the time, but in close quarters 200 ping guys would get me everytime because they would disappear and reappear, missing my bullets entirely. So, make sure you lead targets, but also make sure that the target your leading is actually going to be heading in the direction your firing. Also, aim for the head and torso, they go down alot faster when you hit them in the critical areas.

And at longer ranges, crouch and then pause before you fire. The pause is very important as it kind of steadies you and your weapon. Crouch (most people say go prone but I reckon that makes a headshot much more likely) because that increases your accuracy.
The other thing to remember is zoom (RMB). For most weapons (not shottys) it applies a 20% increase in accuracy. But at close quarters, let rip or the guy standing in front of you will be standing over your corpse. |

It's intend is to reduce skill levels so newer players have a better chance against experienced players. There are some competition mods avialable and in the works that remove the cone of fire and use recoil instead as in the previous versions, so that skilled players will perform better than others using the same class or vehicle, and relatively little randomness. Welcome to BF2, spray and pray. |

Observe the crosshairs, as you fire they expand. This symbolizes that your gun is recoiling and your aim becomes less accurate with each shot.
Automatic fire is for close up so keep it on burst or single shot when at a range of id say a game-car length. Sniper rifles are totally useless imo ..you can shoot somebody 10 times in the face and they take it and laught. I dont think headshots count in BF2 so aim for the chest. Even then the chances of killing an enemy with full health in a single shot is virtually zero. USE PRONE ..its invaluable when in a fire fight with your enemy as its harder to hit somebdoy laying down. Standing up youre an execelent target laying down theres less of you to aim at. Mounted weapons have better accuracy. This is commen sense so if a vehical is nearby hop in it and switch to its guns to mow down your enemies. If none of this helps you i guess you could use the bazooka and aim at the ground ..or be commander and artillery whore the map :} gl

Has anyone else noticed that vehicles are magnetic? Whenever someone is in a mounted gun on a vehicle and I shoot them it never hits them, it always hits the vehicle. Ive stood behind someone on a mounted gun on a tank and unloaded into them from 2 feet away and all my bullets hit the tank. The same thing happens when you shoot someone in the vod or hummer. Run up to the back and shoot through the opening where you can see the guys legs and lower chest. All your bullets will rattle around inside the vehicle and not hit him.
