Sounds okay. Nice of them to give them away free. |

Well this is logical since people use the SF weapons in normal BF. The only way you can get the weapons "free" is to pick up the kit from a dead avatar people had / have been doing that since 1.12 came out. I appoligize for the brashness but whats the big deal about this?

Ha ha, good thing I didn´t bother to get the bloody expansion pack...
If theres one thing I´ve learn´t from the BF series, is that its expansion packs arn´t worth it on the long term !

Some clarification. The EA announcement is poorly worded at best. If you do not have SF, you do not get the SF weapons UNLESS you kill someone and pick up their SF kit. I sometimes wonder if english is a second language for the people that work at EA.
Having said that, we discovered that anyone can have the unlocks at any time (providing the servers you join allow unlocks). You have to know someone you trust that has SF. Allow them to log into your account (that's where the trust factor comes in seeing as you have to tell them your PW to log in), let them play a few minutes and then log off. The account server thinks you have SF and remembers that. This is known as the 'account trick'. It took about a half hour to figure this out after SF was released. Some consider an exploit, some don't. This is a close to a true expansion pack as we'll probably ever see. Other wise it's just a commercial mod. RtR, SWofWWII were all commercial mods, dispite EA touting them as expansions. At least with SF the weapons are available in vanilla BF2 one way or the other. If it was a true expansion pack, then we would not need to have dedicated BF2 and SF servers. The same with BF42. They attempted to make it more of an expansion by allowing a server to mix and match maps from RtR and SWofWWII which was BS. You got booted from the server if you didn't have the map so it was a bogus attempt as far as I was concerned to call these expansions. I learned my lesson with BF42 as far as RtR goes and I didn't bother with SWofWWII so you guessed it, I won't be getting SF either.

Initially I was majorly pissed off that people that have SF get an advantage in vanilla BF2 because of the unlocks, particularly the flash bangs. I didn't think it was right to have to pay just to stay even with everyone else. But it doesn't bother me anymore seeing as I can access everything. I haven't had any real issues with being screwed over by the FBs or any of the new kits. I've blinded myself more often than the enemy has... come to think of it, I don't think I have been FBd by the enemy yet.

I agree that EA are a bunch of wankers tho. I'm sure if Dice could have published their games on their own without EA, things would have turned out a lot differently for the entire franchise. I think Dice cares about the end users where I don't believe EA does.

In addition, you get the weapons but not all the fun bits of SF in BF2... I have grown to love the grappling hook and zip line and wish I could use them in Karkand! I play on SF servers just for them, otherwise I would be back with regular BF2.
