Default Engineer kit issues

If i'm an engineer, I can hop in a vehicle and drive up to and resource (UAV, arty, etc.) and make it functional instantly. But if I run up to them on foot, it takes forever to get them functional by using the wrench. I guess it is one of them things that make you go hmmmm...

Apparently, your "magical" do-it-all wrench works best when enclosed in a vehicle and unable to contact the item directly. :P

It should be the other way around. It's more risky to leave the relative safety of a vehicle to repair something so it should go a bit faster when you get out.

I'm not sure if you get points or not for the instant vehicle fix? But it has the same effect as dropping a crate next to it. It is possible to make ALL your teams resources fuctional by using a buggy in seconds. Just drive up and bam... ready for biznaz

Wait..let me get this straight. Ya mean you can jump in a jeep as an engie, drive up to a damaged APC or tank and make it at full strength almost immediately?
I've never seen that.

DICE needs to read here and correct this for the upcoming patch, if they can.

NO... just resources like arty, UAV and the radar scan. And it doesn't repair them fully, just to functional stage. They're still smoking, but they can now be used.

From my experience, this is what happens:

When you approach an asset (uav, etc.) in a vehicle, assuming normal two c4 damage, the assets will become instantly repaired by 2 damage slots. But, once the intial two slot repair has been done, the repairing rate will slow down to a slower pace then normal wrench repair. Repairing the entire asset by wrench will be slightly faster, as it will repair at a constant rate that is a bit faster then the slow vehicle repair. The real repair issue depends on how much of the asset u want to repair, for a quick fix, use the vehicle, but if you want the entire thing repaired, use the wrench.

What seems like randomness is actually more of an obsession with C4. Most assets only require 2 C4 packs to destroy, but when a gung-ho spec ops guy has 3 extra packs with nothing else to blow up, he will usually throw the extra 3 packs onto the asset and detonate. Now when you repair the thing, your repairing the asset based upon the damage given. So, instead of merely repairing for the damage of 2 expacks, your repairing the damage of all 5 C4 charges, making it take that much longer to repair the uav or artillary. I have experienced this myself and stood there repairing the trailer for 2 minutes until it was completely full on "health;" I got three repair points for the whol process leading me to believe the C4 maniac put about 15 charges on trailer when he detonated.

Now if your one of those spec ops C4 maniacs yourself, wait around for the engineer to start repairing the sneak up and knife him. He'll be so confused why the repair is taking so long that he'll be oblivious to everything else arond him. I got knifed one guy 3 times before he understood the ploy
