Default Patch 1.12?

LOL where have I been? 1.12? What's this? Is it for BF2 or BF2:SF, or both? I went to play online and it said I have to download the latest patch to play.
Thanks

Its for both.

essentially it gives you the SF weapon files which are needed as SF people can use the SF weapons on normal servers.

So the new unlocks, do they replace the existing unlocks or are they extras? Ie will the Medic now have the L85 AND the G36E? or will I loose the L85?

There are now 2 tiers of unlocks, the regular unlock and the SF 2nd Tier unlock.

Where SF unlocks are available(not all kits have an SF unlock), you have a choice of the three weapons... stock weapon, normal unlock and SF unlock. You have to have the normal unlock before you can do an SF unlock so I am told. It's an unethical ploy by EA to enhance SF sales. I'm not buying SF anyways.

I'll be buying SF, but will try and find a way of having both BF2 v1.12 and BF2:SF installed at the same time. Should be simple enough to do:

1) install BF2 and patch it to 1.12
2) rename its directory to Battlefield 2_Old for example
3) install BF2 again and install SF
4) now I will have to folders inside EA GAMES: Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2_Old
5) everytime i wanna play an install, just make sure the one i want is correctly named Battlefield 2

wtf? Just install BF2, patch it to 1.12 if you don't have SF. Then if you get SF in stall it and repatch. No need for that renaming bullshit.

I can't even patch. The install shield never gets started, just gives me some error and tells me to exit all programs and clean my temp directory, neither of them makes a difference.

ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, THAT was polite . Dude you completely missed my point. I WANT TWO INSTALLS. One with regular BF2 1.12 and the OTHER with SF 1.12. Simple enough

hmm, i have 4 unlocks: Medic, Spec Ops, Support and AT, but none of the new weapons are showing. Also, each time I open up the game, I still get the EA mesage saying to update, even though I have and my version number is 1.12.....

How do I get the new weapons?

So can you pick up an SF gun (from a dead guy) if you don't have SF?

The 280 meg update includes the kits that are available on SF. You can not access these unless you have purchased SF. Kits available to SF are usable in BF2 and hence if you kill someone that has an SF kit, you can use it.

Ha, its sort of like a demo or preview of SF. You get a chance to use the weapons from SF then you say, well these are nice, and you go out and buy it. Brilliant!

2 new things I noticed
Maby they were there before the patch

1) smoke comes out of the barrel after you shoot
2) when pressing "Q" to say something, mouse over the "Spot" circle in the middle and RIGHT click. A list appears and you chose what you want to spot.

I make lots of red boat appear on the map it was funny

Were these thing here before, because I never noticed theme...

I just installed 1.12 patch today. BF2 player, not SF.

I have one major issue with it, and one question.

First things first. The new patch now scours your harddrive and looks for
any CD emulation program you have on your harddrive. It won't allow you
to play BF2 unless you disable them. I had one helluva hassle trying to
"Disable" my CD Clone and Virtual CD programs in order to get past EA/Dices's gestapo approach. I finally had to uninstall both.
I wasn't using either of these programs for anything BF.
This is kinda hardcore "Big Brother is watching" if you ask me, seeing that most LEGIT CD emulation programs don't work anyways if you use them for BF2 (Virtual CD)..

Second issue...is that a SF "Flash grenade" that makes your view go white for about 15 seconds? Damn...lol! I thought my vid card was dying.
