Just a little rant here. Why is it that Helos are so great a tank killing, but if you are lucky enought to hit a helo with a tank shell, it only smokes? I've had several solid tank hits on helos lately (both Cobras and the Havoc) and they only start smoking turn around and blast me. That needs to be fixed.

I think they added more armor in the update to be honest. I used to be able to shoot up helos pretty good with jeep mounted weapons. Now it seems they have little effect. Or maybe i'm just getting less accurate.

I don't know. I can usually get a helo smoking with a tranport's MG. At least before they figure out where the fire is coming from and blast me into a million pieces.

Its hard enough to hit a helo with a tank shell so it should be a 1 hit kill, man it was common place in DC and nobody complained about it!!

Bf is rock paper siccors.
Tank beats jeeps and infantary. Helo beats tank. Plane beats helo. AA beats plane. Having tanks being able to take out helos with lucky hits kinda sucked. I have done it in BF2 when they where smoking. In DC the T-72 was the best anti helo veichle out there. |

You have a point grim, but look at it this way. Even if you concede that the anti-air vehicles beat the helos (which is up for debate), they are still very suceptible to what they beat (helos). Helos beat tanks but are still very unsuceptible to tanks. Its out of balance.

However Tanks beat infantary.
One of the cool things about BF is that some things beat others in straight fights. Take infantary for example, owned by tanks usually. However setting up a C4 trap then waiting in the bushes is great, knowing you are david and you just took out goliath is a brilliant feeling and something thats unique to BF. |

But grim you are reinforcing my point. C4 is the great equalizer for infantry/tank battles. Tanks are practically defenseless against a good chopper pilot.
Maybe a good compromise would be to have a tank shell bring a chopper down to the "imminent death" level with a few seconds to live and give the pilot a chance at survival instead of an instant kill.

i still think there should be a way to make vehicles either: go out of control, or lose various functions. If i hit a helo in the rear propeller, it should not be able to use rudder well, if at all. The real question is did they make helos with weak points like the tanks, because then you could just ajust some coding, and add some coding, and you got yourself a limp chopper.
