I have been away from the forums for a few weeks and have not actually downloaded the new patch yet (I need to reformat my HD, Maxtor=crap). Amazingly there are still many servers running the old patch, so I haven't found it a necesssity to install it at this time. I know that there are supposedly many changes that took place, but from what I gathered some things still were not fixed. Many of the non-fixes have been said, but I am unclear on all of the improvements, so...in your opinions, what were the most important/most appreciated fixes that took place in the new patch? Is that accursed punish system still around?

Probably the vehicle cap change has the biggest impact on game-play.
(Choppers especially won´t find it as easy as before to cap flags). Download the patch, its better than 1.01 and also has the BF 2 version of Wake Island.

Points awarded to the Commander have drastically changed as well. If you don't choose forgive/punish or forget to do it, it defaults to forgive now. (It's still stupid the amount of points taken away for tk's but that is a different issue). They changed some of the sound files, some good, some not so good. (MEC jeep/van sounds like something from Colecovision).
The red/blue bug is back and seems worse than it was in the original release. They nerfed the point requirements for ranking up so, ya you should probably get at least 2 promos when you do update and the additional unlocks that go along with the ranks. The screwed up the in game browser but did add a favourites list. Still no in game buddy list. It doesn't appear that they fixed the sniper rifles, they're still lame.

They said they fixed the AA but for many of us nothing seems to have changed. I guess I only man the AA gun when there is a good pilot raping but a good pilot will also be better at avoiding AA.... vehicle AA I am told is better than ground based but you may or may not notice a change in that....
List of favorites is really nice tho..... |

They increased the speed on the apc so u can go faster and climb hills easier. Comanders no longer are punished for teamkills at all

The servers seem to be decreasing exponentially everyday for 1.02, so I will be forced to switch over soon. All the stuff seems like some good improvements, though the lack of missles fixes and AA problems are disappointing.
I am nearing 32000 GP so the weapon upgrades should be nice. I am still missing my pistol, knife, and transport badges. Even though I try to get them, I cant seem to get 7 knife kills in a round. I can get 7, it just never recognises that I have knifed 7 people. And having a round last more then 8 minutes has been impossible so far, so the transport badge should take awhile as well.

dito, i am missing both knife and explosives also. Just pistol is 5 kills and knife is 7. Who knows why pistol is less kills than that of knife?

Do explosives via mines on Karkand, I got 14 kills in the first 5 minutes of the round doing this. After that try C4, fully loaded apcs give some good numbers. Claymores in the enemy base entrences is also possible, but hard to get more than two guys at a time.
